OK, so I have a REALLY annoying issue going on: I can't preorder the wii U.
I have $170 And get $10 a week for allowence, so I am able to preorder the wii U.
BUT MY GRANDPARENTS WON'T LET ME.
It's fine if they had a good reason, but here is what they say: "You already have a wii, just preorder the games". But I can't seem to convince them that it's not the same as the old wii, with them giving the excuse: "It can't sell out like the wii did." But guess what? It's being sold out already, and I'm very annoyed as I can't seem to convince them. Anyone else having a similar problem/can give me advice?
Use $30-$40 to buy them a lot of cheap alcohol.
Get them really drunk.
Then ask to be able to preorder this awesome cool new console that's coming out.
Also, as it has been said by someone else, the Wii is at the end of its cycle. There won't be any more games released for it soon. All the games will be released for the Wii U in the near future.
Of all the suggestions I've read, having a Gamestop clerk explain the system seems to be the best choice. I would say you could explain yourself, but I don't think it would help at this point.
Maybe you could make a PowerPoint presentation? I know it may seem silly, but it would make a lot of things easier to explain, with things like side by side comparisons and the like possible.

Errr... Some of these posts are Crazy suggestions (Like REALLY crazy), just tone it down a bit guys.
For the record my idea actually would work. People lose a lot of inhibitions when drunk. The value of money and the urge to suppress impulse buying being one of the first that goes.
Could we please stop talking about punching his grandparents? He's already said that option isn't on the table.

I guess the GameStop clerk is your best option. None of the other solutions...(except my own)...has any actual...weight in your grand's eyes.
Plan B though, you wait until the Wii U actually comes out and take your grandparents to GameStop. They should have a demo stand. You can then demonstrate the Wii U's new capabilities and why you should be able to get it ASAP. A bit of patience is required, but it'll be worth it if it works.
I own a PS1, GBA, GBA SP, Wii (GCN), 360, 3DS, PC (Laptop), Wii U, and PS4.
I used to own a GBC, PS2, and DS Lite
Actually, My grandma watched E3 with me in the living room on the day of it. She knows what it's about, but she thinks that "WELL YOUR 3DS DROPPED 100 BUCKS IN A FEW MONTHS SO THE SAME WILL HAPPEN HERE"
This is why I said my earlier comment. I think a lot of people missed this.

My advice: Go outside and play a sport. Life is short
He could also go into MLG. It's growing pretty fast pretty much everywhere, especially in Asia.
In regards to TheDreamingHawk, you could try asking your grandparents why they think the price will drop in less than a year. If they say because it isn't selling well, then you can point out that it's selling out of preorders right now, so if that is any indication, it will sell very well.
Also, there is the option of telling your grandparents that 100 dollars doesn't matter as much to you as getting the (deluxe) system early. If you still aren't able to preorder it, then your final option would simply be to buy a regular when it comes out.
