Would an american memory card work on a european gamecube ?

The memory card isn't region locked. When you use it for the first time, it will formate it to:

  • Japan Mode - If using Japanese GameCube BIOS
  • Western Mode - If using USA or Europe GameCube BIOS

If your memory card is set to "Western Mode", you will be able to save USA and European game saves.
