First time in over ten years, since Shadow of the Colossus back in 2005, that I stayed up beyond midnight to play a video game, even though I had to be up and out of bed at half past five to go to work this morning!
It's just mindboggling as to how good the whole experience truly is...
Without spoiling things, this is more of an adventure game than an action one.
Yes, those bombastic set pieces are still there to be thoroughly enjoyed however, it is slower paced game with some downtime before the 'next big thing'. I like this change of pace, and it is equally as refreshing not to walk into a new area without a wave of enemies mowing their way towards you.
The gunplay is so much more refined, and the combat is unbelievable; the amount of animations that you see unfold makes Rise of the Tomb Raider looks somewhat dated in comparison.
Unless something goes horribly wrong somewhere down the line, it is going to end up being my favourite game of the generation, let alone this year. Everybody needs to play this.
As expected, I'm having a great time playing Uncharted 4 and I don't think I'm half way through yet. If it's the other Uncharteds it should keep getting better.
@Peek-a-boo:
Yes, it's pretty unbelievable. I took some screens to post in the PushSquare community when I get a chance but I don't think they can do justice to the game. I also have to give Naughty Dog a lot of credit for improving the gunplay. I felt that, while fun, it was a bit of a weak point in the past. Not so anymore.
I actually cried both tears of sadness and happiness while playing Uncharted 4. This game is on another level compared to the other ones. I'm speechless.
Check out my YouTube channel if you love gaming, and Nintendo (especially Metroid) I think you'll enjoy my videos. :)

I believe I am now halfway through the game and, yeah... it's the best game of this generation.
There's nothing else quite like it, and the painstaking attention to detail is genuinely staggering.
I am also very please that adventuring and exploration tops the agenda over shooting a wave of enemies every five or ten minutes. The gun play borrows the best of The Last of Us as well as giving Drake more animations than ever before, which makes every encounter a joy to run and gun through.
Bloodborne and Super Mario 3D World were my joint two favourites of this new-ish generation however, Uncharted 4 has sent them tumbling downhill... and that's before I even finish the game!
@WebHead: God damnit really? I tried to play The Last of Us not too long ago (my second favourite game ever) and my PS4 was so loud I couldn't hear the characters speak. I usually hate it when people say a game is "unplayable" due to such-and-such-a-thing that is usually subjective and that others actually enjoy (usually the controls I'm lookin' at you Skyward Sword haters) because it's just stupid hyperbole yet again, but it was genuinely so loud I had to just stop and turn my PS4 off. My PS4 is one from launch, and it's been on shaky ground in the last year that I've played it a lot, game freezes and even crashes, online issues (though that probably was on Sony's part) and this. I definitely want to play this game, but I just can't if that's an issue with it.
Just when I started to be genuinely looking forward to playing it after my exams this month. I haven't seen many people say this was an issue (TBF I've barley seen anything other than praise for this game) but I'll take your word for it.
I dunno whether it's a Naughty Dog issue of pushing the system past its limits or just further proof that these systems are already outdated but regardless I'll just have to skip on this game unless they can patch this- somehow- or if I do end up getting a PS4.5/K/Neo whatever that can play the games from the company's no1 developer without whirring sounds constantly.
@TheLastLugia: @WebHead: Well that's something to think about regarding Neo speculation, will those issues be resolved. I know for sure that later models of the Xbox 360 were much quieter (and also fixed the RROD issues).
The cutscenes are fine, but yeah, when you take control of Nathan Drake, the fans do whirr quite loudly.
Thankfully I sit a considerable distance away from my television, and the fans at the back of the PlayStation 4 are openly exposed to let the air flow in and outwards.
Seems that that open world and graphic intensive games are the usual suspects for the fans to go into an overdrive mood of sorts. I just put the volume up a bit or two higher than usual (to drown out the noise).
01) Dark Souls III (PS4, Xbox One)
02) Ratchet & Clank (PS4)
03) MLB 16: The Show (PS4, PS3)
04) Tom Clancy’s The Division (PS4, Xbox One, PC)
05) Grand Theft Auto V (PS4, Xbox One, 360, PS3, PC)
06) Minecraft (Xbox One, 360, PS4, PS3)
07) Quantum Break (Xbox One)
08) Call of Duty: Black Ops III (Xbox One, PS4, 360, PS3, PC)
09 NBA 2K16 (PS4, Xbox One, 360, PS3)
10) Star Fox: Zero (Wii U)
Best selling Ratchet & Clank game in its opening month of ALL TIME, hooray!
The MLB series continues to do well for Sony and the MLB franchise, and in its second month too.
Quantum Break and Star Fox Zero are flops, especially the former with its hefty budget that they probably won't be able to recoup anytime soon.
The winner of the month is Dark Souls III; selling almost twice as much as Dark Souls II did in its first month two years ago. Apparently the PlayStation 4 attach ratio is a shy over two thirds (more than 66%), which is a lot for just one system!
May will be all about Uncharted 4, as well as DOOM and Overwatch.
