@BLP_Software context, narratives and trying to squeeze out of Sonic something more than a simple and plain platformer game is one of the worse thing happened to it in my opinion (the other one is that after the classic trilogy and expecially for the 3D games they completely screwed up all the physics and pretend it does not matter at all when it is more than half of the whole fun in Sonic games. Without the physics of the original games Sonic games are completely meaningless and pointless. Under the surface Sonic is not about speed as much as people think, it is all about physics and it should stay that way).
I like Sonic 3 and Knuckles, don't get me wrong (Sonic 1 is better however), but not because of its continuity. That was just a nice plus at best, but without any real importance, it didn't matter at all in my opinion, but in that game it was not negative either so it was ok. In later games often narrative elements became really bothering, so I am strongly against them. Sonic 1 was the best in this regard. It did not feel stupid or random, but it didn't have absolutely nothing more than it strictly needed to be enjoyable, if you wanted more you could imagine it for yourself and enjoy the game, everybody who wanted just to have some fun with a simple yet deep and interesting platformer game had exactly what they wanted with no distractions that could ruin its taste for somebody.
It occurs to me that the sound made by that Chaos Ruby or whatever is the same sound heard during Infinite's "particle attack" at the end of Forces's E3 trailer. A connection, perhaps?
And if you look he has a certain purple rock that glows as he does an attack on his chest.
And the pose Sonic strikes in the true ending is the pose Classic Sonic makes in the first Forces trailer. And the true final boss theme has the chorus of the main Forces theme in it.
And Classic Sonic in Forces is from another dimension.
Evenin the manual it states the Phantom Ruby gives off strange readings no one can understand, which is what Tails says about Infinite.
Sonic Mania happens because of Infinite. He is how Classic Sonic ends up in Forces and the reason Eggman acts like he does in Mania. He even created the Hard Boiled Heavies, beat up Super Sonic and straight up ripped the Emeralds out of him.
They just spent an entire game showcasing how dangerous Infinite is and just what hr can do and how capable he is of playing people like a fiddle and he hasnt even fully appeared yet.
the "bad ending" is actually the best one and the "good ending" is actually the bad, incomplete (cliffhanger) one? Ok
I think I will try to collect all the emeralds except the last one because I want to enjoy the bonus stages but I also want to avoid the "real" ending at all costs.
I hope sales will show Sega that Sonic Mania is a game that deserves to be prasised on its own and that it is just what many Sonic fans want.
I also hope Sega will not misunderstand the message because they are so dumb that they could also think something like "Sonic Mania did well and then nothing more happened after that because people must have been disappointed by it. It's obvious we knew it"
NO!
NO!!!!!!!!!
Sonic Mania is exactly what we want!
This is the problem. You guys at Sega are not able anymore to give us what we want! Indie developers have become better at doing what you created decades ago while you completely forgot what it was and still should be! That is why we buy Sonic Mania and nothing more. Not because we are disappointed at it, but because we know exactly what we are going to buy will be like!
Just got this yesterday and this is the Sonic game i've been waiting for, for years! Nothing gets my palms sweating as trying to do a perfect round in the Bonus stages, LOVE IT!
Anyone figure out how to get free boxes bounce out of the floor from the spinner at the end of Act 1 yet? Or even if they put it in? If not why not as whats the point in letting you keep it in the air?
So... that SXSW panel. I was a little underwhelmed to be honest, they barely mentioned Forces, as I thought would happen, and not much to say about the racing game, but that’s cool that Mania is getting that update with that physical release with all that stuff for only $30.00. I kinda wanted DLC levels, but Ray and Mighty have been shoved under the rug (minus a few references here and there) long enough, so that’s better than nothing at all. My only question is if it’s going to be a free update to those of us who already own the game, but I would think that it’s going to be free.
Just a geek that likes video games, and spends to much time playing Smash Bros. and Fortnite.
