Are Dead Island and The Division considered RPGs?

People keep saying the Xbox One doesn't have Backwards Compatibility.
I don't think they know what Backwards Compatibility means...

some games on your list dont scream RPG to me...

i am only interested in that final fantasy explorers game though i am not familiar with FF except for FF8 which i tried as a kid on playstation but i didnt like it.

@6ch6ris6: An RPG can mostly be narrowed down to games that have a heavy focus on Stats. In that sense I can see all of these being RPGs, but if we talk about the Style RPGs tend to have, I can see your point.

I'm defiantly picking up Bravely Second. I'll wait until the special bundle to get FE Fates. But I still don't know how I feel about FE x SMT... if it stands up on it's own, then I might get it. The Wii U needs more exclusive RPGs anyways.

It seems like a lot of these games are also on the PS4. I don't personally own one, but it's nice to see the console is getting a growling library. I had a friend who imported Megadimension Neptunia VII and his reaction to it was fairly positive, so that's at least another game JRPG owners can look forward to.

Is Star Ocean: Integrity and Faithfullness, not coming to the PS3 as well? Also, Odin Sphere Leifthrasir is coming to Vita, right? (No PS4 here)

RPG's take up to much of my time so I will probably only get a couple of these at most, with ScaleBound being #1.

2016 is looking to be an incredibly stacked year especially beyond all these RPG's. We almost need a "General 2016 Games/lol WiiU Thread" (j/k, I still like my Wii U).

Wait, Digimon is still a thing!? Huh...I honestly had no idea.

There is nothing here...except for the stuff I just typed...

I don't believe the PS3 version is coming to the west. But the PS4 version will be much better anyway. So far there hasn't been a PS3 version that has been close to or better than a PS4 version, unlike the previous generation where PS2/Wii versions where developed by different studios and more than once lead to better games than the PS3/360 equivalents.

The PlayStation 4 is slowly adopting the legacy of the PlayStation 2 when it comes to RPGs. In other words, you'll definitely want a PS4 if you wish to play the vast majority of those games that shingi has listed.

I might buy Dark Souls III, but that's all I have time for I'm afraid!

2016 looks set to be such a great year for RPGs. Japanese ones look like they are having a real resurgence on consoles (well PS4) after being predominantly on handhelds last gen.

My top three most wanted are Final Fantasy XV, Persona 5 and Dragon Quest VII. Dragon Quest XI probably won't be released in the West next year but looking forward to that too, particularly the PS4 version.

I'm not sure I would personally classify Dishonored 2 as an RPG but it is one of my most anticipated games next year. I loved the first one.

Beast? How dare you.

Windy

Nice list a lot to look forward to for everyone. Personally Go Go Go 3DS! I love my 3DS

Still playing 3DS but will have Switch soon for multiplayer with friends. I miss you guys! Adam, Joni, Gavin and the rest of the Blue Rogues from the Phantasy Star Zero Days.

Spoony_Tech

Hopefully we will get more info on Etrian Odyssey 5 here really soon. I wouldn't be surprised if it got released in NA next year if out in Japan by mid next year.

If I was only ever able to have Monster Hunter and EO games in the future, I would be a happy man.
