@redd214 I mean, if you just want it to remote play your PS4 games on another TV, it's probably a good buy. It won't play a lot of PS Vita games, though.
@Ralizah yeah I think I'm gonna bite on it. Doubt I would play vita games on it but it includes a 4gb if I did want to. I probably have 50 or 60 I've never played from being a plus subscriber for years!
Cute games digressions aside (I mean... c'mon... :-/) , the news about Vita's death (pun intended) got my attention. You know, I'm a sucker for freshly dead consoles... a bad case of necroconsolophilia
Back on topic: I'm thinking about getting one sooner or later, because I don't own any Sony home console (beside my old PS1/PS2 that are gathering dust somewhere) and there are a bunch of exclusives I'd really like to play on it.
Which version do you guys think would be he best? The OLED-screen fat? Or the second, lighter iteration? How do the two of them compare, weight-wise, to our beloved Switch?
The original fire has died and gone, but the riot inside moves on.

The Switch tablet, on its own, weighs more than either iteration of the Vita.
But the Vita models are smaller, so they feel a bit more dense.
As to which model you should get... which do you care about more: a vibrant display with richer colors, or a slightly better form factor and built-in memory?
@Ralizah The so called better display may also have burnt effect. I do not recommend the original vita. Also you will need vita memory card to play games since you cant save without some kind of memory.
At least the slim model have 1GB internal memory
Also IIRC the newer one uses the much more common micro usb for charging vs the old which has a proprietary cable. Could use and old phone or tablet charger you have layaround.
@Zuljaras No '"so-called" about it. I've owned a PS Vita since a year after launch and have not noticed any noticeable burn-in. Having seen both units in person, games just look much nicer on the older model. It's why some people still opt for it, even with the improvements in the newer model.
I'm not saying it doesn't happen (that's just the risk you take when you purchase tech with an OLED screen), but, in my experience, it's not a serious issue as long as you don't let it linger on a static image for long periods of time.
And yes, it has 1GB of built in memory, so the newer model might be what someone wants to opt for if they're not going to purchase any digital games. If you go digital at all, it's irrelevant, seeing as how you'll need a card regardless.
And considering how much of the Vita's library is digital only...
@Ralizah That is why for a person who never held the two models side by side to just pick the slim version. Also the back touch "screen" and grip is better designed on the slim model but that is just my opinion.
I got the first version and the screen is great, though had I done my research and find out about the charging slot, I might have gone for the later model, cos being bound to a unique charger is a pain.
You guys had me at blood and semen.
What better way to celebrate than firing something out of the pipe?

Yeah, and I think it's also worth considering the game patches and updates. Rayman Legends has a 380MB update (it would occupy a lot of that 1GB) that adds the levels the Vita version was missing and Killzone has also pretty big patches if I'm not mistaken...
This blue eye perceives all things conjoined. The past, the future, and the present. Everything flows and all is connected. This eye is not merely seen reality. It is touching the truth. Open the eye of truth... There is nothing to fear.
@gcunit You can get billions of Vita USB cables (assuming that's what you're referring to) on Ebay for cheap. In fact, I ordered one not too long ago. There's not much issue getting more if you need to.
It's also sad that I specifically mention a cute Vita game (PS Vita Pets) and subsequently get ignored.
