That review sort makes myself wish it wasn't coming over to the States.

Unless I'm reading the entire review is a joke and the 2/10 is a secret 9/10.

Japanator isn't a Mainstream critic. They're a bunch of wannabe weeaboos who think they can write. Basically, they're the target audience for this game. That said, if even they think this is bad, I can't say there'd be much hope for it.

That said, it's probably the Bandai part that picked this one.

Perhaps in America. Most the rest of the world has fewer hang ups about sexualised humour.

Given imagepoch rarely makes great games I don't think anyone would be surprised if this turns out bad. That was a poorly written review however so I am reserving judgement.

Namco Bandai operates as a single company. As far as I'm aware it doesn't have a 'Bandai' team working independently of the Group. :-/

That's a good point actually. I should think of more jokes in that regard. Probably because I still watch anime but have played very few of the more notably violent games in quite a while. Well that and I am rarely around the violence frat boy nonsense and more around anime fandoms that sadly reinforce stereotypes sometimes.

RE the Namco Bandai fans - unfortunately when you produce games for the most degenerate of common denominators, you're going to end up with obnoxious people posting on your social networks. EA and Activision experience that on the western side of things. I'd much rather work for a company like Xseed or NISA where the fans tend to be more understanding and pleasant.

The whole tentacle this is so outrageously stupid (if a rather intelligent way to dodge censorship amongst manga artists way back when) that it's become a running joke in the legitimate anime/ manga community.

Not sure if the humour necessarily translates. In fact, given many of the reviews for these kinds of games, it would seem that many critics seem to think the Japanese artists/ game developers take this stuff seriously.

Unfortunately, there were a few anime in the early days that did seem to take the whole tentacle thing seriously that made it to the west, so that might be part of the problem. And judging from the hentai section in FYE when I was last there, we get a lot of Tentacle porn, too. Granted, most of it is old...

You know why tentacle porn exists, right? It's because a legal loophole in the censorship laws of Japan means that tentacle porn isn't censored but actual human... members, are.

So basically if an anime wants to throw a sex scene in, that's the way they can.

But, as I said, most anime and manga artists find it ridiculous and stupid funny and it's become a running joke.

@Bankai I'll write the review for DUST 514 once it gets out of beta. Haha On the very outside, it does appear to be a stock FPS online multiplayer shooter, but once you drop about 30-50 hours into, you really start seeing just how complex it truly is, especially now that it's fully integrated with EVE Online. Character builds are as deep as building characters in Demon Souls, but you really have to pay attention to how you want to specialize and go for it all out. Otherwise, you'll just have a balanced character.

I'm a flippin' FPS addict and yes, Crysis is amazing!

On another note, Darksiders is great! I absolutely love the combat engine!

I could never get into the DUST beta.

Every game I was spawned into (when I got into a game) I was killed almost instantly.

Maybe I'll try getting back into it, but I dunno.

You make it sound like it's a bad thing (when it's not).

Dude I played the closed BETA for at least 20 hours.

Aside from the fact that the arenas were larger than typical for a FPS (and I did like that; it's nice for a guy that likes sniper rifles to be able to play a game without being slaughtered in every match because sniper rifles are useless at close range), From Dust does very, very little to change the genre up. If you're an EVE player then I'm sure that side of things is interesting, but as a dedicated multiplayer shooter it was very much a case of "been there, done that."
