Oh my god, that's the most exciting 2017 trailer since the Zelda one. Look how much everything moves and just writhes! This is a definitive evolution of the series, and the new region looks downright beautiful. Not to mention the scale of whatever that new elder dragon is.
Barroth is a pretty solid pick for a returning monster and its mud-coated hide looks a lot different with the smoother modeling. Plesioth is less solid IMO, but it's Monster Hunter through and through and at least looks less like an obvious additive union of fish and legs. Not to mention Diablos and whatever those new monsters were all about, I have to go rewatch...
@meleebrawler It definitely looks adapted to the mud, but I'm calling it 'Plesioth' until we get an official name because this could just be an Alolan Plesioth type situation where this game's new version goes by the same name. Calling it 'Lavasioth' because of the mud could get confusing.
I see a few of shots that look like monster intro cutscenes, all perfectly framed and whatnot. The elder dragon especially alludes to story because the mine we see it erupting from has torches and scaffolding all around. The new bird wyvern's gimmick seems to be holding circular objects in its hands, one of which is a clay pot. It'll be interesting to see how the fifth generations expand and interpret the ideas of monsters from the natural world interacting with civilization (think Gogmazios, Atoraru Ka). In any case, the little guy seems like a perfect and very unique Jaggi successor.
Edit: By the way there's another new tutorial trailer that shows a little bit of the new village at the beginning, and the forge and crafting later on. It's this sick Libertalia-style dock where you can see older ships being hauled up the cliffs and built into homes as more arrived. The forge has some of the best elements of the Loc Lac forge with giant gears and conveyor belts laden with monster materials. I assume this will be the only town in the initial release of World since the online / offline split is gone.
@Octane Yep.
Mud Lasavioth, a new bird wyvern that grabs and throws objects (apparently named Kulu Ya-Ku), and a chameleon bird wyvern are the new monsters shown. Diablos and Barroth make a return.
This trailer is overwhelming so I can see why they chose to show the more sequential gameplay reveal first. Still not much multiplayer in the trailers, which will come perhaps closer to launch.
They also showed rain, which is important. I wonder what effect that will have on hunting.
And probably my favorite detail is how the giant jagged rocks inland from the Ancient Forest weren't just a cheap way to avoid making a skybox. That is this area and now we know where the two are in direct relation to each other.
Finally. I was getting bored of only seeing the same forest again and again. The desert and all the new monsters look really interesting, and it's great to see Barroth again.
Japan got a different trailer that instead showed off the core "gameplay loop"
You get a look at the town at least. There's also the option to "take all" when it comes to quest rewards and you can see weapon trees in game a la Gen. -Now why the heck are weapon modifiers still in?-
The new trailer does a MUCH BETTER job of showing off the game and I'm actually interested in it now. The previous showcases just turned me off but seeing this new one does a lot more to get me hyped for it.
Japan got both trailers (I'm just going to copy/paste my comments since apparently my post at the bottom of the last page was missed). The tutorial trailer that shows a little bit of the new village visible from the Ancient Forest's beach and treetop at the beginning, and the forge and crafting later on.
@-Green- He spends too much time in the water outside of your reach, and has funky hitboxes to boot (a tail whip that goes over you but still hits you, the legendary AOE hipcheck). He just needs a lot of polish.

Yeah I meant actual Plesioth, Lavasioth I can handle because of his size and all that. (not to mention he doesn't spend half the time in water and out of reach) When I saw Mudsioth that's what my mind went to, "ugh, he's returning again, I can feel it...".

Keep it PG-13-ish.
@CrazedCavalier Nice. Helps to give the combat a bit more OOOMPH, make it more visceral.
I hope this game will still have funny NPC dialogue and some light-hearted aspects. My biggest concern with this game is that they were going to make it super cereal in an attempt to court the "hardcore" Western audience.
