Like I said a while ago, the new ai, interation options, and stealth abilities could allow capcom access to completely new types of quests and objectives if they have the creativity.

I wonder how arena quests will work and what the arena would look like.

@JaxonH The incredibly ironic thing is that they've grafted HAs into weapon movesets seemingly--- the longsword has a very flashy stab into jump slash and a guy on Neogaf confirmed DBs have an attack where they jump into a downward angled spin attack. They're both flashy, powerful, and hard to land... like HAs.

You've done a complete 180-- I'd still hold on to some caution regarding newer mechanics. It seems like they'd easily just drag things out and make repeat fights a chore.

The cloaking feature in this game is horse *%%#. Not to mention the stupidity of the "monsters" who I will now refer to as "baby monsters" who haven't developed their primary senses of scent, sight and hearing.

Capcom's funniest Monster Home Video:
The part where the hunter is "sneaking" casually past the freaking dino is ridiculous.
Baby Dino is even like:"hmm, somebody is totally sneaking from behind, is it not?"

Super Sneaky Hunter: "hehe, I will now move before your eyes since you don't have any. Hehe."

Baby Dino: "Let's take a step back and extend my nose from my forehead and sniff like a dog on drugs. Hmm... nothing to smell or see here. Very weird..."

Super Sneaky Hunter: "hehe, I will now ambush you from the FRONT! Like the old
saying goes: if you can stab a monster from behind, withdraw and try and make it more obvious. It's super effective!"

Silly Dino.

What about even earlier in the trailer where a pack of velociraptors obviously see the hunter and are ready to engage. But oh no...! he sneaked into a bush! In plain sight! Well...Nothing to see here... LETS GO GUYS! ...... Ok bye.

Somehow capcom has made it possible to make these gigantic ferocious monsters look like helpless little puppies...

@Spanjard I have to agree. They could have done a lot better with making the ghillie suit actually look like a ghillie suit. Calmly walking into a bush in full sight of the monsters is also ridiculous.

I guess the Monsters in World must be very near-sighted.

It also doesn't make sense for hunters to be immune to fall damage or even be able to life giant great swords carved from rock. Monster Hunter is an arcadey game and this is no different.

Don't hate me because I'm bnahabulous.

CrazedCavalier

@Spanjard Extended footage shows that the hunter actually ran just out of sight of the Jagras before jumping in the bush.

Also, a lot of real life creatures don't rely on sight that much. Even then, it's still a videogame-- it needn't be realistic. (Heck, it's not even near as bad as humans in the MGS series: trained soldiers that can't see further than 20 feet in front of them or below their waist.)

I do feel like the stealth is unnecessary...it's an ACTION adventure type series. lol

@Joeynator3000 Want to avoid aggroing stuff while gathering materials? That seems like how I'd use it.

@DarthNocturnal Moreover, instead of all these elaborate attack animations the monsters would just run up to you and chomp! Then three more chomps. Then chewing, then quiet.

Anyway, the stealth elements are just fleshing out a feature that was already in the game and pretty useless. The best strat for crouching in Monster Hunter 4 was to gather quicker, lmao.

Anyway, here are all the names we know so far, in case you're having trouble remembering:
Anjanath
Great Jagras
Jagras
Aptonoth
Rathalos (duh)
Ancient Forest
Slinger
Paratoad

That jelly bug apparently can be Slinger'd and made to drop the goop, which creates a healing field.

My one problem with World's graphics would have to be how low poly that water looks. Moar HD graphics please! Also I think those are eggs in the Rathalos' nest, so Rathian is probably on this map. Interesting to see how those two react to each other.

I hope this game is difficult. Generations is about the easiest difficulty I can tolerate. Anything less and it will have a hard time keeping my interest.

Although, this game has a cool world which will be intriguing to explore, but even so I still hope it's difficult. I have to believe the MH team wouldn't go this far to keep the game in line with traditional MH, only to bork it all with entry level difficulty.

Seems you may no longer need gunner armor for bow weapons... that means that unless your stats somehow get halved when wielding a bow weapon, ranged hunters could be significantly OP. Not 100% sure gunner armor is gone, but the way people have talked about the demo, and people going to base camp and switching to HBG... makes it sound like anyone can wield any weapon.

If that's the case I'll likely never use HBG. Maybe that's their concession for new players (although that would be a major concession).

Well the game didn't have G-Rank, so...(I had more but the browser refreshed randomly)

@JaxonH Actually, I made a new file on 4U to try and learn DBs for World and I've completed every single hunt up to Nerscylla in less than 10 minutes.
That really goes to show that Arts and Styles weren't what made Gen easy-- the fact that there were so few new monsters is mostly to blame. The Fated Four themselves all had things that hindered the challenge as well (Mizutsune's AI and tracking is a bit flawed, Astalos' charged parts actually take more damage, Gammoth's just a hulking hitbox that you can't miss, and Glavenus has low HP).

Joeynator3000

It's mainly because the Generations team for the most part ported over monsters without giving them any new moves. Was really hoping to see Agnaktor return only to be very disappointed, the same old 3U version.

Only difficulty Gens really has is a few hypers and some of the deviants. (and Ala...)

@Joeynator3000
Ya that's true. G rank would have helped, certainly. I'll find out in XX what it's like wirh G rank.

@DarthNocturnal
I'm ok with them getting rid of separate gunner armor too, provided your defense is cut in half when you're gunning. There's a reason there's been separate armor...

edit
Pardon the interruption, but this thread is full of MH fans for which this may be relevant for. I noticed a petition has been started for MHXX in the west. Hasn't really got much traction yet (no one probably knows about it yet), but that's why I thought I'd post it so that any and all MH fans here might voice their desires to Capcom.

@Joeynator3000 Gen didn't have as long a development or as much resources given. 4 also simply ported over monsters while just touching up some hitboxes.
What they did is completely understandable-- they've already got everything in the same engine, so porting makes more sense.

Joeynator3000

4 did more than porting monsters, they improved them, gave them new moves and all that...Gen was the one ported monsters. lol (besides Lagi)

@Joeynator3000 They may have gotten one or two moves and tightened up a few hitboxes, but Lagi's kinda the gold standard.
Monsters like Kut Ku need to be re-done entirely if they want to bring it back (its tail whip just comes out of nowhere and his fireballs can hit you when you're under him). For all the "work" the 4 team put into them the 1st gen monsters feel really dated and are chores to fight.
