I remember it was cloudy with thunderstorms when I fought Kirin, but it wasn't raining.
A lot of people probably don't know it's a sequel, but then again any person who bought this game probably knows at least one other person who's played it before, and they've probably filled them in. I convinced another coworker to try the game- He had never heard of it and I told him about it- a good example. He just told me he bought it last night. Typically he plays the Division and the like...
And... he doesn't like it. And for all the usual reasons. Weapons are too slow. Not sure what to do next. Couldn't find a weapon he liked. Why can't I have multiple weapons on me at the same time... yada yada. I gave him my ID in case he wants my help but... I don't think he's going to be playing it again.
I need to finish my Zora Magdaros mix set using Low Rank Legiana chest piece to keep Evasion. Off I go...
@CrazedCavalier
How did you fully upgrade a charm already? I took off for a four-day weekend and played this game constantly, then I called in Friday and did another three day weekend... I am only just now making it to high rank. I want to upgrade some of my charms but it seems I just don't have the materials and they all have ???'s so I have no idea what I need. This armor set that I'm making I've decided to go for the version without slots since I don't really have any good decorations to use at the moment anyways. I figure later on when I'm getting some serious high rank armor, that's when I'll go for slots. But it would be really nice to upgrade some charms. Did the Argosy play a big role in the materials? Or was it all just ore and monster parts from HR

@JaxonH The defense charm just requires a lot of ore. As soon as you hit the 5th area you have access to what you need to upgrade it (the set itself gives several points towards defense boost already, which is why I opted for that charm).
Just beat Nergigante and am two claws away from maxing out my Kadachi DBs.

Anyone want to run a few optional quests with me? Raadaban, 2 Rathian quests and a Barroth, and if Zora Magdaros quest shows up I need to run it one last time for a missing part or two.

I thought the design of the last boss was really good, but the fight itself was too straight forward. It was a long, but very simple fight in my opinion. Slightly underwhelming, but the game as a whole has been outstanding.
I’m now at 100 hours in, HR 35, working torwards my first set (mixed ofcourse as there doesn’t seem to be any particularly good tailored sets unfortunately, I hate having mixed armour, don’t like the mixed look).
I loved the previous games in the series. But this on a console has been a tremendous experience and I fully expect it to consume all of my time for a good long while to come.
And with that, Kadachi Claws III and Freeze Chain II get. First two weapons up to their final form already. Have multiple expeditions to farm Bazelgeuse in and may end up doing that at some point.

@Tsurii Yup yup on PS4 my psn is xlOutColdlx I just got to HR lol
My last hunt I did this morning after I carved whatever I was hunting, in the last 20 sec before I was to go back this crazy monster was flying above me it was black and seemed to shed some scales that would explode... what was it?
I beat Fluffybutt McBatface. The map's getting filled in, I have access to four regions. Are there any more I'm wondering? Feels like I'm nearing the end of the story.
@DarthNocturnal
Ah, right. Every thread I watch I get notifications for any post, and then get tricked into thinking it was a direct response.
You haven't run into him yet? He's a pain. And does serious damage. I think they need to tone down his appearance rates though. Where else dung is ironically about to become the most valuable resource in the game

@Octane It will feel like the end, but there is a whole 5th map you gradually progress toward. You've seen every monster once you literally hit credits.
271 defense (armor talon, armor charm and +20 defense from weapon included)
300 blast damage on Long Sword (yay for blast Attack up on top of it!)
75 Sleep on Palico Hammer (put Pink Anjanath to sleep twice during first hunt, which rocks)
And I look dang good despite being a mixed set with 3 low rank Legi armor pieces still being used (and a hidden Zora Magdaros helm, which definitely didn't match, and Tobi Kodachi arm piece)
Man, these decoration drop rates are frustrating. Only have like 9 different ones, and most of them are meh. I want an evasion or defense gem.
Straight up robbing these monsters blind though. Palico with plunderblade, me with the bandit mantle... on top of that the Good Luck set bonus. And it's still taking forever to get parts. All I ever seem to get from the drops are beautiful scales, whatever those are. And I seem to get them from every single monster. So I kind of feel like they are not a specific monster item? Which sucks because I thought that was the whole purpose of these tools. I'm trying to get real claws, scales, mantles, gems, etc.
And Bazelguese, oh my goodness. To date, I have not completed a single high rank quest (aside from the arena) where I did not get ambushed by this thing. I would laugh if it wasn't so frustrating. I just want to hunt the monsters fair and square. I don't mind if he shows up in one 1 of 10 quests, which would make it feel like a special event and you would be really scared and run away... but when it's every quest you lose all that. It just becomes an aggravation. Every single quest, I know I'm going to run into him. And not just once but three or four times. I've only got so many dung bombs.
On the bright side, I've scavenged enough parts from him using bandit mantle when he crashes the party to get both the armor talon and power talon, and make a set of Bazel armor for my felyne. Although it is still using the Raadaban sleep hammer, which puts monsters to sleep at least twice in a fight. Which is about as much as you could hope for. I decided against getting the Bazel weapon for my felyne since it was blast, and I'm already using a 330 blast long sword. Kind of figured it's a waste to have him use it too and we could be tag teaming blast and sleep together.
Anyways, just cruising along. Doing about 3 quests every day when I get home from work. And since I plan to do every question the game it's taking me a very long time to progress. I found all the clues for that mystery Rathian, but I'm not going to report to the commander and tell I've caught up on all the optional quests. It seems like every time I went all them down to two or three I get another two quests added in. Which, I'm not complaining because it's more content to play, but it does make it feel like I'm getting nowhere. I still haven't even prioritized doing the limited bounties so I can get some of those mantles and boosters I'm missing.
I did a low rank arena quest, and I killed that Pukei so fast my bandit mantle didn't even expire by the time he went down! I guess I'm truly high rank now. My 4 ⭐️ and 5 ⭐️ optional quests only have a blue "Complete" instead of red. So I must be missing some quests. I'm guessing it's the arena quest which you unlock for capturing each monster... which means I'm going to have to go back and capture every single monster in 4 and 5 ⭐️ low rank to unlock their arena quests.
...Good grief, they screwed up Kushala Daora so hard.
He has even more attacks that utilize windpress. On top of World's bad habit of inflating attack values + crappy hitboxes (his jump hits you from behind even when you're not up against his legs and his claw swipe extends several feet beyond the range of his claws, like Great Jagras); he's the only monster I consistently faint against (once in my first hunt, twice in my second). And when he's near death he creates three giant tornadoes that just stay in the area, restricting movement and visibility while killing the frame rate. He's just tedious nonsense... which is really a concise summary of World's difficulty in a nutshell. It's so inconsistent, even in the same fights. One moment you're wailing away and flinchlock a monster, and then suddenly they break out and knock off half your health (or vice versa). Rather than a turn based rhythm to combat, it's the player and the monster trying to flip the bird towards eachother. It's an artificially faster pace that makes combat far more polarized and lopsided.
