I like the Dual Blades the best so far. Decided to use some other weapons in the last Beta, since I am an absolute noob to the series, but I simply like being quick and nimble the best. Definitely looking to try new things in due time but I think I'll be sticking with Dual Blades for now.

Reminds me of how Tri actually had you hear monsters from neighboring areas. That was pretty cool as well. Shame the dark caves won't ever return... What was I talking about?
Wait wat? I never noticed hearing monsters, or at least not consciously. Do you have any examples?
Anyway, nice hunt. I really like the feel of the dual blades, even if I've never been able to get good with their short reach. I really like the ledge spin attack in 4 and now World, and the demon dashes feel really sick to do in a Monster Hunter game where most actions are so grounded. I kinda wish they got more stuff in World, although I the backwards demon dash animation is hella anime.
Oh, and like we assumed this one doesn't have a CG opening. 'S'all real time now!
I have the game preloaded on my PS4 — how they compressed it that small I'll never understand. Not sure I'll main it, but I'm really excited to see all of the different Switch Axe phial colors.
Gosh dang. Took off tomorrow and Monday to enjoy another MH launch, but tapering down my meds I feel like crap and just don't wanna play video games at all. Irritable and no energy.
Thought my copy got delivered early, came home but there was nothing on the porch. Worst case scenario I have both versions pre-ordered digitally... but I just don't have it in me to stay up past midnight. I was a tad younger when MH4U released, and I drove 30 miles to a 24 hour Walmart to buy the New 3DS XL and MH4U. Didn't get home until 1 o'clock and play the game until 3 AM. Not going to happen this time.

My digital version is downloaded and ready to go now just have to wait for it to unlock. So hyped! I plan on waking up bright and early to get in a few hours before work.
Someone just posted this about Xbox, they haven't specified the optimization modes each are in though. It wouldn't be a surprise if they didn't optimize the game for X any further than Pro though.
It wouldn't be surprising, but it would be disappointing.
I'm not a big framerate guy. Very few games in my life have I played where I had a legitimate complaint about frame rate. But if you own a stronger and more expensive system it's only natural to expect better performance. The hardware is capable of more, so there's no reason it shouldn't be 60fps locked, or at least higher average fps, or native 4K vs 1800p upscaled.
But if it's actually worse, that would be a real travesty, though it would explain why they haven't shown much for the Xbox One.
I've recently convinced my engineer friend at work to maybe play MH with me. I got him to play Xenoblade 2 and he's hooked, 30 hours in, and had never in his life played a JRPG before. In fact he doesn't really even play single player games at all. Just Rocket League and crap like that on Xbox, although since he got a Switch he did play Mario Odyssey and Steamworld Dig 2. My mission is to show him the glory of single player games.
Anyways, if he ends up playing, I may make X1 my primary platform after all. But if it's actually worse... that's gonna be a tough pill to swallow... gosh dang. Come on Capcom.

Ugh, gotta wait till Saturday to actually start playing - again. Thankfully it‘s the last Friday of this semester so it‘ll be the last time I gotta wait a day to play for a good while.

Started the game on X1 just to get to the first hunt so that if I ever wanted to play online on this platform I would be ready to go...
Holy crap it takes a long time to get this game rolling. In previous games there was a quick intro and then boom, you were out hunting. Here you have to go through all these big long cinematics (and don't get me wrong, they are nice cinematics), find the base, now they've got to escort you to every single place in the village- here's the smithy, here's your room, here's canteen, oh gotta go to a council meeting, and the whole time you have to walk rather than run lol.
I hope I can power through all this on the PS4 to get back to where I was. I like it though.

Man, I like the look of this bad boy, but I ain't got a spare three week to spend training to be a pretend dragon poacher. Seriously if I could buy time I might have, but as it goes ima try and learn to do some real stuff.

I'm maining charge blade this game, couldn't go back to insect glaive despite loving it in 4U. Too tedious keeping the buffs up.
Anyways, the slide attack is awesome. The heavy elemental attack at the end still takes all your vials though. Maybe you're talking about a different attack, Idk. I don't know the weapon well enough to distinguish any other differences. Although, I think they did away with the yellow shield- there is only the pink shield in this game. So when you're about to do an elemental discharge hit the RT button (or R2 on PS4) to charge the files into your shield.

Of course. I use the same Hunter every time. Same hairstyle, hair color, face, outfit, everything. Although I did choose a slightly fancier hairstyle this time since the game has more options. And then right away in one of the first cut scenes, the guy who saves you had my exact same hairstyle, colored beads and all, and I'm like whoa there buddy... you're mooching off the real deal here, I don't take kindly to imposters.
They've got a guildmarm outfit for the handler on the store... but it costs money. I went ahead and bought it because that seems more like fanservice than nickel and diming gestures and face makeup.

They really did right with the combat in this game. A tip of the hat to Capcom- there are so many ways this game could've gone wrong- particularly with the combat, but they stuck to their guns and not only maintained the intricate movesets, but improved upon them. I say credit where credit is deserved. It would've been all too easy for them to limit the move sets and make combos almost flow automatically, etc etc. But instead we got some awesome new moves.

Lol... she's definitely not as cute as the Guildmarm, and looks downright ugly in the costume. And definitely doesn't have that punchy "Hey, ho, hunterino!" and "Be sure to show me the bite marks on your hiney so I can make a sketch of them... for science" personality
