Someone has written an article that includes that there's a 2 twitch streamer who still plays the game and might be gathering players to play with them. Also written in the article says that the game is dead but there are still people who play it with their friends to enjoy and to use in their live streams or custom competitions.
In terms of online communities and presence, it is basically dead. I only play it occassionaly "offline" with my friends when they come over for a beer or few lol
@borucrew I mean, that fact that Nintendo Wi-FI connection for the Wii shut off 9 years ago didn’t help the online presence. But yeah, up until the death of my Wii in January, I just played the game alone for fun, lots of content in that game and it holds up quite well (maybe not the bloody tripping mechanic, but oh well)
