I had an old Game Cube Controller that I picked up cheap, but the joystick was completely busted, so this really caught my attention.
This Mod Kit replaces the circuit board and both joysticks and turns an old Game Cube controller into a Switch Controller, so I pre-ordered it.
I finally had a bit of time this weekend to sit down and open up the Game Cube Controller and try to install the Mod Kit.
20 minutes later I was up and running.
I was a bit nervous cutting the wires for the vibrate motor off the old circuit board. But I just followed the video / instructions and everything was very easy. For anyone doing this, I would suggest having a small pair of pliers (or tweezers) to help route the wires inside, and to don't forget to position the L and R sliders correctly when you are putting the controller back together. (I didn't check the sliders and the L and R triggers weren't working. I had to open it back up again. But easy enough to fix.)
The joysticks both click, but I don't know if that registers with the Switch. The only game I can think of that uses that (that I have) is Arms. I will try that out later.
And I haven't tried it with a racing game to see if the analog triggers are still analog and help with control with acceleration.
But it was nice playing Mario Kart with a Game Cube controller without the cable!
Oh yeah . . . for anyone with a Game Cube (or Wii with GC ports), you can get the 8BitDo Retro Receiver for NGC . . .
@NeonPizza I'm actually not a fan of the film, but I'm interested in the game now. Never knew it was even coming out. With a game like avgn under thier belt, I also trust it should be good. Let me know how it actually is.
@NeonPizza sweet. I'll grab rugrats too at some point. Just so little time and too many games. I've been playing retrorealms halloween and it's fairly tough honestly. My only gripe is that it's repetitive you die ALOT. Having to retrace alot of steps and memorize sections with horrible enemy placement. Same with ash vs Evil dead
Is it weird that I just got Stubbs the Zombie in Rebel Without a Pulse with Gold Points (it's only $1.99 right now) simply because it happens to have a Death Cab for Cutie song on the soundtrack

...Yeah, I gave up on these ever receiving a meaningful discount. I did have hopes around Emio's launch.

I plan to be very conservative with game purchases for a bit outside of existing eShop funds - I need to draw some holiday funding from somewhere - so chances are high I won't post in here again until after all my Christmas gift exchanges.
