@Anti-Matter Yes there is a game over screen, but it just takes you back to your last save, which is recent every time.

Also the game is easy for the most part, some challenges here and there might give you a problem but nothing a guide can’t fix, also, I have been playing it on the hardest mode, and even then, there easy, can’t imagine how easy they would be on easy mode. And you can change it at any time.

Hm....
I will check the gameplay from YouTube.

Snatcher

@Anti-Matter Is it bad that it has an easy mode? But yeah check the gameplay out, tho im not sure how deep you like your topics in your games, are you okay with cartoon levels of loss, sadness, if not it might not be for you, you would need to see the cutscenes.

@Snatcher I bought it on impulse yesterday and, I have to say, I echo most of these sentiments.

The game is (unsurprisingly for a Sonic game) quite janky. I had similar issues with the giant enemies. And sometimes Sonic's jumping and running can be hard to control (why does he have no momentum? he stops the second you let go of the analog stick). And I agree that the weakest part of the game is the Cyber Space levels - these honestly wouldn't feel too out-of-place in Forces.

That said, the game is simply fun. I was skeptical about Sonic in an open world, but it's just so satisfying getting to explore with his move set, and solving these different platforming puzzles to gather collectibles.

You also can't convince me this game wasn't inspired by BotW. The two games have a very similar feel.

@Buizel Don’t even get me started with the momentum, can’t light speed dash without a boost pad ether, or you lose all of it, jumping in this game honestly feels bad ngl.

the cyber space stages wile weak, I have no idea why I like S ranking them much, the only one that was hard was the 2nd one so far, but I do enjoy doing it, even if the controls play like booty Lmao.

I will take inspired over ripped off any day lol. Like I said, I hope sega doesn’t go back on this, but based on interviews, this is where they want to take it, and I’m all for it. Sonic team is also kinda known to take critics to heart, so I hope the few stupid reviews don’t ruin this game, and when I say few I mean digital trends specifically, here opinion, I just don’t agree with a majority of it.

This, is just the sonic game I have been waiting five years for, I think it was well worth the wait, and I got glad sonic team tried, game could have used one more year, but that’s sega fault not sonic team as I’m sure they would have done so, considering they pushed it back already. Sonic is back!

@Snatcher
Easy Mode = gift for me as I don't want to feel frustrated by game level as I still have zero experience with Sonic games.
I don't want to dash too fast and react too quickly and precisely when I can get panic attack for doing so.

@Snatcher
You mentioned that Frontiers has loss and sadness themes. To be honest the first 60 minutes of gameplay I watched felt rather depressing to me. My question is, does the game become warmer and more cheerful later on, or does the sad tone remain?

YO! Inscryption in December. World of Horror confirmed for next year (guess that's when it'll be leaving early access). I'm digging the look of that Pepper Grinder game as well.

@Jhena Honestly, at his time I can’t say, but I think it’s a mix, there will be lighthearted moments as well, but I agree with you, they really are taking this in a whole new direction. I will play more today and I can tell you then.

@Anti-Matter Good, you can change the speed if you want, also you can play it on attack mode, it slows you down.

@Buizel While there are some clear inspiration points from BotW, from what I've played so far it feels more like Odyssey/Bowser's Fury.

@Grumblevolcano I can definitely see some of those influences there as well. I think Breath of the Wild mostly because of the overall tone. I also just learnt the game has its own version of the Blood Moon...

Ya know, I ordinarily don't like rogue-lites. Not enough permanent progression, too much repetition. Not even Hades, Dead Cells or Returnal was enough to sell me on the genre.

But Rogue Legacy 2 got a surprise launch on Switch today after being PC/Xbox only for the last half year or so. The first game released in 2013, and most found it to be good, but not a masterpiece.

But this sequel is sitting around a 90 on MC for both PC and Xbox. And the game legitimately looks good. The appeal for me is precision mechanics with more permanent progression than is typical. Health upgrades that carry forward, and beating a boss is permanent, so future runs can work toward the next.

I think I might grab this.

Having said that, I think I won't be grabbing Have A Nice Death. After researching impressions from early access, it doesnt seem like it would overcome my dislike of the genre like Rogue Legacy 2.

@Eagly
I never got too into MGS as I typically suck at stealth games. But I did have a brief stint with MGSV where I was getting really into it. Even liked it so much I ordered a Snake figma (at the time I was buying figmas but have since come to despise movable figures and large head caricature figures like Nenderoid).

Only stealth game I've ever truly loved so much I beat the game was Splinter Cell Blacklist. That game rocks. Too bad it only sold like 100k copies, of which only 10k was on Wii U. I'd be down for a Switch port of that.

But I'd take MGS. A Switch release is probably the only way I'd bother trying the series again. But I doubt it'll happen. Especially with Sony's history of goaltending this past generation.

I've always said it.

"Any person can enjoy any genre, it's just a matter of finding the right game"

To date, I play just about every type of game there is. Most ppl just stick to a very small subset of game types and don't branch out. Be it ppl who only play retro games, only play AAA games, only play Nintendo games, only play indies, only play Souls-like games, only play platformers, whatever. I play anything and everything as long as it's best in class, and I enjoy it.

But there have been a few holdout genres I just haven't been able to crack. I never gave up hope, because I truly do believe it's all about finding the right game to help you "see the light" of why that genre is appealing. I used to hate turn based games. Played Final Fantasy X on Vita and Bravely Default on 3DS and hated it. Didn't get it. But Fire Emblem Awakening appealed to the chess player in me. And I loved it. After 100 hr playthrough, went back and played Final Fantasy X and loved it to death. I finally understood the appeal.

Rogue-lites are one of those holdout genres I've just never been able to enjoy. There are a few others, but rogue-lites are so abundant and popular nowadays, I've really been wanting to find one I gel with. Dead Cells didn't do it. Hades seemed boring and repetitive. But so many others praised these games as masterpieces. I knew it had to be my own perspective that was at fault, rather than the game.

And so we come to Rogue Legacy 2, which just Shadow dropped today with the Indie Direct. Let me tell you. This.... this is it. Yes sir, this is most definitely it. The rogue-lite I've been searching for.

Just did a quick run and died, and immediately was granted access to a permanent skill tree to unlock classes, health, blacksmith, enchantress and more with the gold I had acquired. After unlocking the blacksmith and enchantress, I was also able to forge permanent weapons and spells with gold I had acquired. Then you pay the toll to go back in the castle, costing you all the gold you have left. This incentivizes spending it all every death. Otherwise you lose it.

The game showed me the rooms I explored on the map and gave me an enemy kill count upon dying, as well as a list of all secrets and treasure found, and a gold tally.

If I, someone who has never been able to get into this genre, am in love with this game, I can only assume others are going to go crazy for it.

Highly recommended. Oh, and it looks spectacular, too. Appears to be 1080p 60fps.

I'm getting tired of all the YTbers making content about how the Switch successor is coming next year just because Nintendo lowered their hardware projection from 21m to 19m. 19m is still more than what the Switch sold in it's first year on the market and 7m million more than what the Wii U sold in its entire lifecycle. So please, lets pump the breaks a bit, we're years away from the Switch successor.

Switch Physical Collection - 1,555 games (as of March 31st, 2026)
Switch 2 Physical Collection - 4 games (as of December 8th, 2025)

Grumblevolcano

@Magician While I still believe it'll launch alongside TotK, I don't think it's why the projection was lowered. Rather that Nintendo's not going to be able to provide enough stock for the influx of people wanting a Switch for Pokemon Scarlet/Violet over the holidays.

I think being able to play away from the TV was the missing factor I needed to enjoy the Souls formula. I've been utterly hooked on Dark Souls Remastered for the better part of a week now, and I think it's primarily because the game is always in reach. It's easy to just pick up and sit down whenever, which makes the "one more run" element almost overwhelming for me.

I wonder if this didn't sell well? I noticed DS2 never made it over. I'd love to see a port of DS3 on the next console.

@Magician If they didn't eternally speculate about the Switch Pro, they'd have to talk about games other than Mario and Zelda. Can't have that!

Although I thought the argument lately for it releasing next year was financial reports apparently showing Nintendo amassing a ton of raw materials?

@Ralizah I'm honestly amazed we don't have ports of DS2/3 on switch...

Considering some of the 'miracle' ports (Doom Eternal, Witcher3, No Man's Sky, Nier) I would assume Switch would be capable of running reasonably decent versions of DS2/3.

In the wake of Elden Ring's success, and considering the 'Souls Genre' boom.... I would see these potential ports making a shed load of money. Many Switch owners are also non-PS/XB and the Switch is their own means of gaming, so these ports would be wholly welcome.

Would be printing money for FromSoft!
