@SLIGEACH_EIRE I was actually hoping this would get a release on Switch! Will sit nicely with Flashback

@SLIGEACH_EIRE You know if you want to get technical, every piece of software for a games console is a port, given no one game originates wholly, is created, designed, tested and developed solely using the system it will eventually be played on. Parts of the game originate from other machines and their software.

Donkey Konga 4 would be nice especially if the 90s and 00s pop/rock focus is kept for non-Nintendo music.

@Dev Not necessarily, with the major exception of Guitar Hero Live which was pretty much a reboot of the Guitar Hero franchise, music games with peripherals generally end up with backwards compatibility wherever possible. Like for example Rock Band 4 allows you to use most last gen Rock Band and Guitar Hero peripherals for the same console family (360 -> XB1, PS3 -> PS4).

@Dev First I'm hearing of that on Switch ;P

That patent seems to be a labo patent.

That makes sense. I'm sure the Joy-Con can pick up on the vibrations and translate them to in-game actions.

CoD Black Ops 4 announced. No Switch version.

Wouldn't be surprised to see that announced in the direct today.

If I understand CoD games right, they switch developers off every year, right? So it might be within the realm of possibility that by the time they got comfortable with the Switch hardware, they were already in the midst of production. Maybe that's the case?

Haruki_NLI

Or, it's Activision Blizzard, who released a gimped port of Skylanders on launch day, late, full price, before putting the series that relies heavily on Toys To Life on public hiatus a few months later, and would base their future with the system on that.

Notably they have not once mentioned the system at all since that day where they just sort of...put the game out.

COD games historically have been announced for Nintendo platforms after the other consoles regardless.

Are we really going to be heartbroken though if a CoD game doesn't make it to Switch?

@MisterPi Regarding the main series, you have:

  • CoD (2003): Infinity Ward
  • CoD2 (2005): Infinity Ward
  • CoD3 (2006): Treyarch
  • Modern Warfare (2007): Infinity Ward
  • World at War (2008): Treyarch
  • Modern Warfare 2 (2009): Infinity Ward
  • Black Ops (2010): Treyarch
  • Modern Warfare 3 (2011): Infinity Ward
  • Black Ops 2 (2012): Treyarch
  • Ghosts (2013): Infinity Ward
  • Advanced Warfare (2014): Sledgehammer Games
  • Black Ops 3 (2015): Treyarch
  • Infinite Warfare (2016): Infinity Ward
  • World War 2 (2017): Sledgehammer Games
  • Black Ops 4 (2018): Treyarch

So in short, it used to be 2 years development per game but PS4/XB1 increased that time to 3 years per game. 2019's CoD game will very likely be a futuristic CoD game made by Infinity Ward.

@Pazzo-ZaFool Well, if it's anything, it'll probably be better than whatever EA farts out at the end of the year.

Octane

Haruki_NLI

@Pazzo-ZaFool It's a yearly huge seller, notable for driving console sales around launch in the busy holiday period and a mainstay of the more frugal gamers who only buy one or two titles per year.

Quality aside, the fact a publisher like Activision Blizzard continues to skip the system, especially with releases they've bent over backwards to release before in years past, shows small the system is in terms of estimated revenue for them.

@Spoony_Tech Possible, but I strongly doubt it. I think the most likely scenario is that it just isn't coming to Switch.

Crash and Spyro are the only things that seem likely to come out of Activision as far as Switch goes most likely. Doesn't bother me though!

@IceClimbers And Diablo 3, assuming of course Eurogamer doesn't backpedal on this like they did Pokemon Stars and Metroid Prime 4...
