Ever since I played final fantasy 8 way back when, and was forced to use under-level characters in a section of game whom I had neglected... I'm always terrified that if I don't level up everyone evenly, I'm going to be sunk.In Triangle Strategy should I pick my favorite team and just level them up, or should I be trying to keep everyone at an equal level?
I got through the game just fine with leveling up only the characters I liked, and a couple of characters I never used at all. There are some battles in the game where one or two of the main characters aren't available, so it's good to have some decent substitutes for them among the optional characters. But there are no battles where you'd be forced to use the entire roster.
@ChristGuard It's not really a big issue in this game, because exp multipliers are insane for underleveled units. Basically, if a character is more than a few levels under where enemies are on a map, they'll be gaining levels practically every time they use a skill or attack an enemy. It didn't take much time at all for me to level up a gigantic army of characters.
With that said, that's only really needed if you're doing a NG+ golden route run. I guess you could accidentally stumble into the golden route on your first playthrough, but it's extremely unlikely if you're not following a guide (which you shouldn't be on a first run). The reason for this is that, on the golden route, your entire army will be split into three parts for a series of final battles, so you'll want everyone to be on roughly equal ground in terms of levels.
You don't need to worry much about leveling everyone on a first run, though, because you'll be sticking to a core set of units throughout.
