I know it's already been confirmed but for anyone worrying I can say two things:
1.) The game feels like a proper good Fallout game, better than 4 by a mile
2.) It can easily work on the Switch, it's not a looker of a game even on the PS4 and PC and I don't think it will take many hits graphically to work on the Switch
Since it appears as though Bethesda has no plans to port Fallout 3 or Fallout 4 to the Switch, I'm really looking forward to playing The Outer Worlds somewhere around June next year. I say June because Animal Crossing NH will dominate my life for a couple or few months. But after that...

You don't want Fallout 4 on the Switch. It was a glitchy boring mess on every other platform and the Outer Worlds makes Bethesda look silly and Obsidian beat them at their own game.

Boring for you perhaps, but not me. I thoroughly enjoyed FO3 and FO4. Their absence on Switch is both baffling and disheartening. But Bethesda is a different company than they were even a few years ago. It'll be hilarious to watch Bethesda continue to burn their house down as they insist on bankrupting customer goodwill.

@Magician
The Creation Engine used in Fallout 4 is a modified engine they have been using since Morrowind. It's terribly outdated, and finally fell apart on Fallout 76. However given the fact that Fallout 4 came out a couple years into the current generation and Fallout 3 came out during the last generation I didn't feel the leap between the two was drastic enough. In Fallout 4 they stripped away most of the dialog options, decision making, and over scope of Fallout 3. I feel the current terrible team we have at Bethesda made Fallout 4, but people kept their rose colored glasses on until 76 forcefully removed them.
That being said Fallout 3 and New Vegas would be welcome additions to the Switch library. However once you play the Outer Worlds you won't need either of them, it scratched both those itches and more.

@Old_Man_Nintendo I loved Fallout 3, New Vegas and 4. The Outer Worlds looks fine but the Space setting is not fitting for me. I prefer the Earth setting as it is more gritty and familiar. The space thing is steam-punk/Star Wars. Probably because of that I haven't played Borderlands yet.
The game does look very interesting and I will buy it on Switch (if they fit it ALL on the cartridge) otherwise I will buy it on PS4 or Xbox One.
I'm mildly concerned about the Switch port of The Outer Worlds. It's being handled by Virtuos. Some of their past work includes:
Final Fantasy X/X-2, a solid port.
Final Fantasy XII, a solid port.
Assassin's Creed III, which runs worse than the Wii U port.
L.A. Noire, a solid port.
Dark Souls, audio issues.
Starlink, texture issues.
Spyro Trilogy, haven't tried, no personal opinion.
All in all, a 50/50 chance of the Switch port of The Outer Worlds being more than serviceable.

Speak for yourself. FO4 is my favourite Fallout game and I’d love to see a Switch port.
I am speaking for myself, but what other Fallout games have you played?
@Magician
Starlink ran very well on the Switch in my personal opinion and low textures are to be expected on the Switch if they are trying to get a nice stable frame rate. I have never had audio issues on the Dark Souls Remastered, and I've heard nothing but good things on Spyro. Assassin's Creed III is a turd and a waste of their talents lol. Do you know if they are the ones porting IV and Rouge?

"Fallout 3"? That's a funny way to spell Fallout: New Vegas.

Technically it's Obsidian beating Bethesda at Obsidian's game, since Obsidian is headed by ex-Black Isle employees who brought us Fallout, Fallout 2 and Fallout NV. (They also made Planescape: Torment and some other things that been widely well-received.)
So, I'm pretty optimistic about the Outer Worlds overall. I'm also pretty bored with post-apocalyptic settings at this point, and more than ready to try a good RPG with a space opera setting.

Remind yourself that overconfidence is a slow and insidious killer.
I'm really looking forward to this game. I got Fallout 4 on PS4 and couldn't get into it. But I loved Fallout New Vegas despite it being glitchy and have played it several times. Though I haven't played Fallout 3 myself, I watched a friend play it, and watched it LP'ed and consider it in my extended backlog. I'd like The Outer Worlds, FONV and FO3 on Switch. But can easily live without FO4 and Fallout 76.

The Outer Worlds is being delayed so that the physical release will come on a cartridge.
Rejoice my fellow physical Switch collectors!

@Magician I just hope it is not like Wolfenstein II physical or L.A. Noire physical etc.
Another one of those "physical" releases where one-third of the game is on the cartridge and two-thirds of the game is a mandatory download update. It's the main reason why I didn't bother purchasing Mortal Kombat XI on Switch. Hopefully it isn't the case for The Outer Worlds. Do we know the game's file size yet? That would give us a good idea.
