Just an area to chat about what it feels like not owning one, why you didn't get one, what would convince you to get one and anything else related to not owning a Switch 2. Me personally, I just want some games to get Switch 2 versions first before I take a dip, like Digimon Story Time Stranger or Kingdom Hearts 3 (no stupid cloud version) or even stuff like YouTube or Hulu

Not day one because the game key card for most 3rd party games = BS.
I heard some of the performance from Switch 1 games on Switch didn't get significant fps boost so I felt my PS5 machine purchase was worthier than have to get Switch 2.
Right now I can enjoy my purchased games on different consoles without worrying too much about Switch 2 as I don't see Switch 2 as enticing product to buy with all the BS situation I found.
@AmanPikon
Btw, you can get Kingdom Hearts 3 PS4 version in physical with cheaper price from garage sale (less than $20 if you're lucky enough) and play it on PS5 machine to get even faster loading time and great 60 fps rather waiting for the Switch 2 version that probably get BS treatment like code in box or game key card or streaming only again.
Kingdom Hearts games are more associated with PlayStation brand rather than Nintendo brand in my opinion.
Number of Switch games: 20000+
Number of Switch games I sort of completed: 20
It might take me a while. I'm not sure that performance is sufficient motivation for me to get a Switch 2. For me at least, even "heavy" games work well enough for me to have fun. I wouldn't mind some faster load times but I'm not sure it's worth $450. What are other thoughts on upgrading to the Switch 2?
@Anti-Matter Unfortunately I'm without a PS5 or PS4 and I like doing rpgs portable. Also I hate game keys, but that's Nintendo's problem for not suppling smaller carts.

@cwong15 Yeah I don't mind my heavy games either, it just needs to be fun me
Also, wasn't this another topic or something? How did this move to my topic?

@AmanPikon Yes, it was another topic. I saw there were like 3 posts — including mine — that popped up at about the same time on the same subject. I thought I'd reduce clutter by deleting my own post and continuing the discussion here. No glitch at all.
I guess the number of Switch games works against my own need to upgrade. Unlike the Wii U, whose library was much more limited, there are still lots of Switch games that I want to try. Backward compatibility means I can theoretically get the Switch 2 much later and still keep my games. But at this pace, I'll probably be ready to upgrade when the Switch 3 is out.
@AmanPikon
Well, if you really want to play Kingdom Hearts 3 game so bad, you need some courage to step out from comfort zone by getting PS5 machine and play the game on TV, not in handheld mode.
SquareEnix will probably not giving any chance to provide Kingdom Hearts 3 for Switch 2 in proper way (game card, not game key card) so you need some brave decision.
What it feels like not owning one
No hyperbolic statements from me here. I'm pretty much 'fine' about not owning one yet. I did watch the Kit & Krysta video of them queuing up to collect Kit's pre-order and yes, there were one or two pangs of jealousy and 'Hey, I could probably just head out right now and pick one up', but nothing I couldn't resist.
The two main reasons I'm jealous:
Mario Kart World, really just because MK8 is my favourite game, so laying hands on the follow-up is obviously a big draw for me.
Missing out on riding the Day 1 wave. As Kit said a few times in their 'First 24hrs with Switch 2' video, these moments in life, a new console generation, are pretty few and far between, and some us won't see many more of them, so it's kinda a shame not to celebrate it fully.
But the reasons I'm OK with not owning one yet:
Switch 2 is bigger and heavier than Switch. I'm not American, so that doesn't make it better in my eyes, it makes it inferior as a predominantly handheld player.
Switch 2 is just too similar to Switch to get me particularly excited, similar to TotK following BotW.
Switch 2 Day 1 hardware could hardly be more boring to me: all grey and in a box that looks just like a Switch box. I mean this quite seriously, if they had made the hardware and the box more exciting, it could well have swung my decision.
Mario Kart World, while I've no doubt is excellent and all the new character models, costumes and animations look fantastic, the game environment looks similar enough to the MK8 environments for me to not feel compelled to have it immediately. I have purposefully avoided spoiling myself much on the game, but the little I've seen of it doesn't look much different to MK8, so my hype meter is a little underwhelmed, enough to resist the lure for now.
The offer. What I'd be getting for my money doesn't feel like a good enough offer for me right now. Switch 2 with MKW is twice the price of my Wii U with game in late 2013. It just doesn't feel like good enough value when I'm happy with my Switch, especially as I'd be forking out for a new case, and a new type of SD card.
Linked to the point above, the whole game key card, code in a box, inflated cartridge prices stuff. It's just a hype killer, and as someone who wants physical games, it matters to me.
My Switch. I'm still in love with my Switch. I don't need an upgrade right now. I can possibly wait the 2-3 years before the next iteration of Switch 2 and hopefully get an improved model with better battery life. Not saying I definitely will wait, but it's a possibility.
So I really hope everyone that's gone early with Switch 2 loves it as much as I love Switch, but Nintendo has done a pretty mediocre job of getting me excited for Switch 2 for now. I'm gonna watch closely sans wait and see. A new Mario 3D or Animal Crossing or something else could win my heart, but for now I'm just gonna observe.
You guys had me at blood and semen.
What better way to celebrate than firing something out of the pipe?
I feel the same as @gcunit. I'd love to play Mario Kart World but otherwise there's nothing making the Switch 2 feel like a must-buy to me, at least not at that price (with the bonkers game prices and lack of compatibility with standard micro SD cards on top of that). I'm sure there'll be a special edition console alongside the Switch 2's first original Zelda, Splatoon, Pokemon or Animal Crossing game and I'll probably grab one then if I can, but in the meantime I've got plenty else to play (not only from the backlog but also from the not-insubstantial selection of games that are still due to launch on Switch 1).
Thank you Nintendo for giving us Donkey Kong Jr Math on Switch Online
My plan from the beginning is to wait for the hardware revision.
Better battery, better screen, bigger internal storage and more eventual fixes.
By then, SD Express cards should be cheaper and have larger capacities (only the 256 GB one is available here in Brazil, and it's expensive).
And backward compatibility will be much more improved with the mass testing provided by millions of Switch 2 owners, with this Nintendo and other companies will make the necessary adjustments.
I'll be enjoying my Switch Oled and Lite until then.
The game lineup, as it currently stands, doesn’t impress me. There’s not enough on Switch 2 that is a must-have for me (DK Bananza is pretty close, but one game doesn’t justify a console). Maybe when the next Zelda is announced I’ll change my tune, but I’m more interested in Steam and collecting previous generations of games, especially the 3DS.
@gcunit I'm just gonna kinda steal your format if that's alright:
how it feels not owning one:
Same as I did when the OG Switch came out - kinda jealous but kinda okay regardless.
why I want one/why I'm jealous of SW2 owners:
It's the sequel to the Switch, of course I still wanna what all the fuss is about
The updated power interests me; I do value better optimization for games whenever possible
There's a new Mario Kart and that's gonna be great
Everyone is gonna hang out with my friend Donkey Kong and I don't wanna miss out
why I'm not too hung up on getting one immediately:
I mean everyone's already complained about the pricing, and I wanna wait for a better deal
I also wanna wait for a hardware revision; as the owner of a first edition SW1, I don't wanna deal with a battery-killing system and potential Joy-Con issues
I wanna know if there are gonna be any alternate colors for the thing down the line
And this last one is a very personal/pedantic nitpick, but I might as well voice it:
There's a new Mario Kart and that's gonna be great but it also serves as a reminder that I'm feeling a smidgen less excited for new Mario games going forward because of my less than positive thoughts on the recasted voices for all the characters going forward(especially due to my lack of conviction in the new Mario voice)
So yeah. I'll be sure to get one but it probably won't be for a while. I'm heeding Brentalfloss' words on this one.
I had some major fomo the last few days, but fundamentally there are no Switch 2 games I 'Must have' until Bananza. If I stumble across a Switch 2 I'll buy it, but if I can't find one for a few weeks no big deal.
Besides Bananza, I have been slowly collecting games which run just a little bit obnoxiously on Switch 1 (for example lag and extremely long loading screens) so I have been saving some of those for Switch 2.
@FishyS no must have games is one of my reasons for not jumping at the Switch2 right away. It was the same with 3DS until Zelda came out for it. Also the price is too high when I know I’ll want the inevitable battery+screen upgrade that comes along, and unlike every previous Ninty handheld i don’t find the various models to be collectable at all (switch lite slight exception)
Unexpectedly, my brother picked up a Switch 2 on launch day. So I’ve had a chance to play the new Mario Kart and appreciate the hardware upgrades. Did not change my mind about holding off on Switch. Especially for the consideration of improved battery, screen, and/or smaller form factor, whichever comes first.
That said, everyone buying in now is probably getting the best launch model handheld Nintendo has ever put out. Nintendo money well spent. It’s a great product that should get some revision that makes it a stellar one
