I have one game giving me problems with gyro aiming on my switch lite, here is a video documenting it.

Anyone else run into this?

Hey, did you ever find a cause for this or hear from anyone else about this issue? I just bought a switch lite at the beginning of the month, and I'm having the same type of issue with Saints Row The Third. Weird thing that I found out though, is that if I restart the switch lite and then go back into Saints Row, the gyro aiming works fine. It's only when the switch sits for a while that it'll stop registering smooth movement. I've tried to recalibrate the controls and everything, but the only thing that works is restarting the console. I would characterize it as almost a stutter, where you can't go on the exact spot that you're trying to. If I try another game, it'll work fine, so I would agree that it seems like it's the programming of the game or something and not the actual hardware. I'm not sure though. I just thought I'd contribute a response to this post, since I'm finding it hard to find anyone else talking about this issue.

@nerdherdchuck not many people have engaged me on this, I have found that most of the problems I am having are related to the speed of my micro SD cards and the location I store the games and its updates either on the internal memory or on the SD.

I have had issues with:

Alien Isolation
Metro Redux
Oddworld Strangers Wrath
morphite

I have found if you install whichever game onto the internal storage of the switch the problem mostly goes away although if the game at any point gets an update and any of that data ends up on the sd the problem returns. I have since replaced my Micro SD, a 512gb Sandisk Ultra UHS-1(U1 Speed Class) with a Samsung EVO Select 512gb UHS-1 (U3 Speed Class) and the issue went away for the most part. I think it has a lot to do with how the developers coded the gyro controls. Some games like BoTW and Wolfenstien have zero issues and are super responsive but these other games feel sluggish even when everything is good.

I hope this helps you.

Hey, thanks a lot for the reply. I would've never thought about the SD card, so thanks for pointing that out. I'll have to look into that, because Saint's Row is installed on the SD card. Either way, I thought I'd let you know that I posted a reddit thread about this issue as well and linked this thread in case you wanted to check it out. There's been a few replies so far: https://www.reddit.com/r/NintendoSwitch/comments/g6pj4u/switc...

Just thought I'd provide an update. I moved my Saints Row The Third installation to the internal memory of the switch lite, and the problem improved dramatically. I still get the gyro stutter but it takes a lot longer until it appears. What a weird issue. I'm still not entirely sure what's wrong, and I don't want to blame my SD card since the issue still happens when it's installed on the local system, but from now on I'll be installing to the local system whenever possible I guess.

Thanks for posting about this - it helped me with a totally different game, Risk of Rain 2.

I had tried ROR2 on an original Switch and was like "hey! the gyro controls are pretty cool!"

And then I bought it for my Switch Lite, and for a moment I was bummed because it seemed like the gyro controls weren't working at all. I had even done a bit of research to see if the Lite even HAD gyro controls, and it seemed like it did - at least enough for aiming like this. So... booted it up and it was totally not even doing anything.

I went and found this, and when I went back to my Lite I realized it WAS doing a little bit of gyro - after I picked it back up from setting it down. It was super jank! Kinda like yours.

So I figured what the heck, at least I can try a restart. And whaddya know - 100% better. Night and day. Like, actually working.

It's bizarre. I have no idea how much this is going to keep recurring or if it will degrade quickly or what. FWIW, I have the exact same Pokemon Switch Lite as you.

Anyway... thanks!!! I would not have thought to restart the Switch for something like this. But... shows what I know.

@toupee this issue never completely goes away, i have speculated that it is somehow related to the single gyro in the Switch lite as opposed to the 3 found in a normal switch and how some developers implement gyro aiming. None of my first party game show this issue nor do Doom 2016 or Wolfenstein 2.
