@Magician When I started the second game, it asked if I wanted to transfer my saved data from the first game over.

@Kraven That would suggest that the hero from Suikoden 1 can be used in Suikoden 2.

Which is awesome because...who doesn't appreciate someone who can cast mini-black holes in their party?

I do remember my friend telling me that on the original PS release you had to have a save file from Suikoden on your memory card to get the hero in Suikoden II. So its a safe bet if its asking you if you want to transfer your save data its probably for that.

I loved how Konami had that feature with the Suikoden save files on the PS. Who could ever forget Metal Gear?

Cool, I collected every star. I am really glad, that Gremio is still alive. The night before the big battle had many cool moments. Yam Koo is a real friend.

I flipped quickly through the Famitsu Suikoden I/II Remaster guidebook I ordered - I didn't want to see anything spoiler-y, but noticed there was a description of how your completed-game save data from 1 will indeed affect how you start off in Suikoden 2.

I've also heard reviewers online say you definitely want to recruit all 108 Stars in 1, if possible, because it will unlock something cool in Suikoden 2.

With XCX incoming today, though, it will be a long time before I can test this out for myself. Someday! Long ago when I played Suikoden 1 on my PS1, I was all about collecting those 108 allies and building out my home base. It'll be fun to revisit.

Yep the savefile from I can be transfered to II.

Beat the first game today and got the best ending. A good game.

The second game feels like a big improvement so far, nice.

@Magician Yeah I have heard that it also did it for Castlevania, although at the time I played Metal Gear I only had Suikoden on my memory card. I have also heard that if you have alot of Konami games on the same card He just says "I see you enjoy playing Konami games"

@Teksette Haha yeah I remember getting all the people when I originally played it on the PS years ago. I had printed up this huge walkthrough that my friend found on Gamefaqs, which took awhile on an old dot matrix printer, just to make sure I got every one.

Sadly I never was able to play the second one on PS due to the fact that it had a limited run in NA and as the years went by, it became one of the expensive games around. I did have a friend who had it and told me about it but before I could borrow the game from him he traded it in to Gamestop, one of the things he regrets doing to this day.

The cities and villages in Suikoden II feel so much more alive. And the dialogues change.

Today I unlocked the castle. It is really cool that I can recruit characters from Suikoden I, even Luc is back. Viktor and Flik are as cool as ever.

Suikoden II is one of those games, which I want to stay with for a longer period. I agree with Nanami the castle starts to feel like home.

Today I revisited Gregminster from Suikoden I. It was nice to meet Cleo again and to hear about Tir.

I saw the super duper happy end for Suikoden II and I am so glad, that it ended on such a happy note. Thankfully Nanami survived and Jowy is Jowy again. Enjoy your journey!

just curious does anyone know how the switch-2 version of this is, from what i gather its the same but 60fps but didnt know if theres any issues or anything not present in other versions.

would search it but most results are about the switch-1 version and most discussions on the switch 2 release are either about the game-key or the lack of upgrade path (granted those are things worth discussing but for me i didnt buy it back on switch-1 and will end up getting it on eshop (have the games on psone but would love to replay them on switch 2)

thankyou

Started the first Suikoden tonight on the Series X. I am about 8 hours into it and about to help the eleves out. I have the castle and have been recruiting people before continuing on with the story. I like some of the QoL changed they did and as Remasters go this one is pretty good. For me its everything I was hoping for. I cant wait to finally play Suikoden 2.

Got through the Dwarf and Elf villages tonight as well as the battle against Kwanda Rossman. Its been years since I played the original on Playstation but I felt that the one on one battle with Kwands was alot easier on the Remaster. What he said before each move made it easy to know what he was going to do beforehand. I honestly dont remember if it was that easy in the original.

Now that I defeated the first of the empire's generals I decided to stop for the night. Next time I am going to do a bit of recruiting before moving on to the next part of the story.

So played a few hours today and was hoping to get a bit further into tbe story instead this session turned into a recruiting session and I didnt advance the story really. I got into the next area which is Milich Oppenheimer's area got to the point where you have to retreat due to the poison flowers. That opened up a few towns where there were some people to recruit. However I got to the first grind heavy part and that was trying to get the nameless urn to recruit the appraiser. Since the nameless urn has such a small drop rate I spent 3 hours grinding till I finally got one.

So as I said not much story advancement but I did get alot of people for my castle tonight. So now I have all the merchants which is nice and the pirates. Next time I play I will be taking on Milich.

@Tasuki I'm playing and in a similar spot as you. I didn't even know there was a low drop rate for the Nameless Urn until you just mentioned it in your post. I'm not necessarily grinding for recruits, I just get them when I can. I was just playing along and randomly noticed that I got a Nameless Urn after a battle and thought, "Oh, I think I need that for that one guy!" I am stuck at a place not much past that though where I do think I need to grind much more I guess, which sucks. Otherwise, been having a good time with the game up to this point.

@Xyphon22 Yeah you take the urn to Jabba, the appraiser in Rikon and try to have him appraise it. When he does the option to recruit him is available. Once you get past the battle with Kwanda Rossman it gets a little tricky to recruit more people. Some will require you having certain people in your party, some will require you to be a certain level and others will want something like Jabba for example. I know there's a girl that wants you to find her loss cat and Mina the dancer girl wants you to dance with her which you will need to have toe shoes equipped to do so.

Even though this is my third or fourth time playing through the game I still dont remember where or how to get all recruits and am using a guide. As it is I almost missed the pirates (Anji, Leonardo and Kanak) and had to reload an earlier save to go back and get them.

Having all the recruits the how you get the good ending plus it makes the battles easier as the more people you have the more troops you have. Plus there's services like the Inn which doest coast you money, and I believe the shops (items, armor) everything is half priced at your castle. All you have to do once you recruit them is once you are in a new town browse the shop lists and your merchants will have the items for sale then which can save you money. Then there's also the gamblers that you can recruit which is an easy way to make money as well.
