Topic: Something weird regarding the save-files

I noticed something weird regarding the save-files. Very recently I had 3 new save-files: Let's go pikachu, Xenoblade Torna and Runner 3, I think. I noticed that all 3 had the exact same save-file size, namely 4.3 mb. I found that fishy. Then yesterday a file for Steamworld dig 2 and Snake pass, both 5.3. As weird as it may sound, I suspect that the file-sizes are random. And by that I mean: On a good day all the created file-sizes are small, but on a bad day they are big.

Why the hoopla you might ask? Well, since Nintendo doesn't have the option to bring the save-files to a micro-sd, your Switch is filling up. Might take a long time but when its full you have to erase files to create new space, wich is awful. The Switch does seem to have a mind of its own!

File sizes are not random. The save data is the same for all users (from my experience so far), so if a game requires 4.3MB of space, it will require an additional 4.3MB of space for additional users. Many games require similar amounts of space. This is nothing out of the ordinary. It's probably just serendipitous. Do not adjust your set. No-one is out to kill you.

They just reserve set amounts of space depending on what they may need.

Think of it this way: game A is 5GB, and game B is 7GB. Both of them would go in a 8GB game card.

It's probably similar for save files.

Lol, I know I know. I just found it very odd.

Even if every game had a 10MB save file size, you could still fit over 3000 save files in the main memory alone.

I wouldn't worry about it.
