So with the re-release of Mario kart 8 Deluxe and Poken tournament Deluxe, am i the only one hoping that they do the same with smash bros. Im mainly a retro nintendo gamer and admit i was in the group that thought that the WiiU was an add on to the Wii. i missed out on alot of great games and the prices for WiiU games are holding there value. I dont want to spend high prices for used games. what are your guys thoughts? And what games do you hope get a re-release for the switch?
@Joeynator3000 Sakurai wanting to work on something else is exactly why a port makes sense. Ports require less work than new games. Release the port in like 2017/2018 then don't have a new game until like 2023.
@Joeynator3000 So you don't want a port of Smash and you think Sakurai is working on something else. So just no Smash at all for this gen then? A Smash port would very likely be done by another team with minimal input from Sakurai leaving him plenty spare time to work on something else. That's a win win.
If he's working on something else then a new Smash would be at least 4 years off, probably more. It doesn't make sense to release a game like Smash so late in the consoles life. It would end up being saved for the next gen.
I'd love a smash bros deluxe game for the switch. It would be awesome if it had all the content of both the 3DS and Wii U as well as all of the dlc stuff. An extra character or two (from ARMS and Splatoon plz XD) would also be nice. Also it would be easy to name the game as Smash 4 was simply "Super Smash Brothers for Wii U/3DS" so it could simply be "Super Smash Brothers for Switch".

I'd be okay with a remake, if they add some new features and such.
as for a new one... thats hard to tell, with problems with Sakurai, im not sure how they will work on one yet.
although, tbh. i rather have a new one then a port. but. it wouldn't surprised me, if we do get a part for Smash 4.

@Snaplocket Well a big part of fighting games are the fighters. Release a new game and a lot of the fantastic roster for Wii U/3DS gets cut whereas release a port and add extra content would expand the roster. A Smash 5 by default would likely be a worse game than Smash 4.
@Snaplocket There's a very big difference, the previous games of your examples (e.g. Street Fighter III) didn't have particularly a big roster anyway. Smash 4 has 55 characters + 3 Mii Fighters totaling 56 or 58 dependent on whether you want to count Mii as 1 or 3, that's a lot more!

Wasn't Sakurai supposed to be working on something related to that mech toy he bought? If that's so, I don't think there is a new Smash in development under him.
We may get either a port, or they may hand Smash to another producer if Sakurai decided he was bored of the series, or that the injury he had would get worse with it.
A port of Smash 4 would be good. Just look at how wonderfully MK8D did. I think it surprised Nintendo themselves a bit and might now port even more of WiiU's biggest hits like Smash 4. I don't think it'll be this year, maybe next year for the holidays? Unless we see a Smash 5 next year at E3, then I doubt we'd see a port of Smash 4 in its entirety.
Overall, just gimme ports of Wind Waker HD and Bayonetta 1 + 2 and I'd be happy.
