Sure, we're going to debate on whether we like Rabbids or not, but if this game is happening, what is it going to be like?
Will we find ourselves in an open world Mushroom Kingdom, with Rabbids running rampant? Or will this follow a more linear route, such as the likes of Mario and Luigi or the first three Paper Mario titles?
Honestly, at this point, I think this is just one giant prank meant to make fun of how "rabbid" Mario RPG fans are, if they're willing to indulge a silly rumor like this.
Seeing as the more recent Mario RPGs follow the same basic formula, any take that completely overhauls that formula would be a welcome sight towards Mario RPGs. And I think this crossover game could have potential if they decided to use these off the wall, crazy characters to parody a typical Mario RPG. Although i still don't have high hopes for this game, especially if the people developing this game are the same people who have developed previous rabbid games even if nintendo is overseeing development.
Hopefully this game stays a rumor.
Mario + Rabbids Kingdom Battle features turn-based combat, two-player local co-op, and a “goofy sense of humor.” Playable characters include Mario, Luigi, Yoshi, Peach, and, four Rabbids dressed up as Mario, Luigi, Yoshi, and Peach.
Kotaku writes about having gotten a look at a particular piece of art that “features Mario and crew wielding guns that shoot laser beams.”
So you can play as four iconic Mario characters or four generic rabbits dressed up as those same characters. I hope their reveal trailer convinces me cuz that certainly does not
It almost sounds as if the combat will be like Mario & Luigi Bros. attacks with the character and their corresponding Rabbid, but with four pairs of party members lining up like an old JRPG. Unless the characters aren't all active at once? I'm having a hard time picturing this.
It's one of those rumors that's just too crazy to not be true. Just like that Mario Maker rumor before E3 2014; an idea that came from nowhere. Most fake rumors are about remakes, sequels, and reviving old franchises.
Maybe I'll consider it if it has good characters and gameplay similar to games such as Paper Mario TTYD. I really can't picture that though, considering it's about Mario and Rabbids with laser beams.
I'm curious about the setting of this game. I first thought it would simply be rabbids invading the mushroom kingdom but with the mention of laser guns, I'm thinking it could possibly be set in a sci-fi like setting. That would be pretty cool. Can't wait to actually see it!

Remember Mario and Luigi: Partners in Time also had lasers, and that game turned out preeeeetty cooooool. Probably just some French movie-like oddness.
@Nicolaison yeah, good point. The fakes are usually some pie in the sky "a Mario game where you can totally do everything and also a starfox and Metroid crossover".
No one would make up a rumor about something as weird as rabbids
Not a big RPG guy, haven't played a Mario RPG since super mario RPG on super nintendo, actually just played through it again on the virtual console, but depending the style of this I would think about giving it a shot
@Tsurii I can't. I can see Joey's post. Although in hindsight I wish I couldn't see any of them. It's like Nintendo dumped mustard in my left eye while Ubisoft's pouring lemon juice in my right eye. It hurts...
