I think ARMS and Mario Aces are better than most are giving them credit for.

After reading your lists I got two thoughts…

1 - Got to get and play Astral Chain
2 - Some people are really upset with some things being out-of-the-box in BOtW!!! But for me is a Wii-U game not a Switch exclusive.

My rankings for the games I've played

S+ (the absolute creams of the crop, it's a crime not to have at least 1 or 2 from here, a 5/5)
-Super Mario Odyssey
-The Legend Of Zelda: Breath Of The Wild
-Splatoon 2
-Super Mario Maker 2

S (incredibly good games, must have them or at least try them, 4.5/5)
-Mario Kart 8 Deluxe
-Smash Ultimate
-Luigi's Mansion 3
-Xenoblade Chronicles 1&2
-Mario+Rabbids: Kingdom Battle
-Animal Crossing: New Horizons
-Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze
-Yoshi's Crafted World
-Octopath Traveler
-Bug Fables (know it's third party but want to point out how fun it is)

A (Great games, have some little flaws but really enjoyable games all-around, recommend them 4/5)
-Super Mario Party
-Captain Toad Treasure Tracker
-New Super Mario Bros U Deluxe
-Snipperclips
-The Legend Of Zelda: Link's Awakening
-Pókemon Sword / Shield
-Cadence of Hyrule
-Hyrule Warriors: Definitive Edition
-Untitled Goose Game
-Tetris 99

B (solid games, can be worth picking up if you like the genre/series, have some flaws but quite enjoyable and fun, 3.5/5)
-Mario & Sonic for the Olympic Games: Tokio 2021
-Mario Tennis Aces
-Kirby Star Allies
-Arms
-Ring Fit Adventure
-Pokémon: Let's Go Pikachu / Eevee!
-Pokken Tournament DX

C (ok games, enjoyable sometimes but there are things that hold them back from being really good, 3/5)
-Fortnite? (Put it in because I have the game, and I want to include every game I have)
-FIFA 18 / FIFA 19 / FIFA 20 (same case as Fortnite)

D (meh games, they aren't as enjoyable and are categorized as mediocre, <2.5/5)
-1/2 Switch (this game needed to come with the console, it's worth 5 to 10 bucks, 60 for such a limited experience is too much, can have fun sometimes but no way it's higher with its price)

There are no F games I've played for the Switch.

@Grumblevolcano BOTW in F tier?!?!

I honestly agree with you. I prefer the puzzle take than and open world.

Also just finished Paper Mario: The Origami King. An S tier for sure. Loved it. If the battle system was a little more polished and coins were more exclusive to battling, it would be in the top tier.

Diego

Krull

@Diliri14 I thought S tier was the top tier!

Still not sure about getting The Origami King, but I’m starting to be swayed.

I agree with Arms, it's one of my favourite Switch games.

It manages to do what a lot of new fighting games struggle with and establish an original roster of fighters straight away, I find the fights are accessible and deep and I really like it's style, some of the music I could quite easily see being used during a FIFA World Cup as it has a sports feel whilst keep it colourful. It stands above most arena fighters I have played, I also like that it's an original arena fighter and not another anime based on.

Ah, I have most of the 1st party games so this should be fun:

S Tier - The Essentials. Every Switch owner should have these unless it's a genre they simply don't like. Intentionally kept small with a lack of redundancy (when BOTW 2 comes out, either that or the original is in here, not both):

  • Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild
  • Mario Kart 8 Deluxe
  • Splatoon 2
  • Super Mario Odyssey
  • Smash Bros Ultimate
  • Fire Emblem: Three Houses
  • Pokemon Sword + Shield
  • Animal Crossing: New Horizons

A Tier - Really great games that are not essential, or are too niche to have the mass appeal to be essential (AKA Xenoblade)

  • ARMS
  • Mario + Rabbids Kingdom Battle
  • Pokken Tournament DX
  • Xenoblade Chronicles 2
  • Kirby Star Allies
  • Donkey Kong Country Tropical Freeze
  • Mario Tennis Aces
  • Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker
  • Super Mario Party
  • Pokemon Let's Go Pikachu/Eevee
  • New SMB U Deluxe
  • Yoshi's Crafted World
  • Super Mario Maker 2
  • Zelda: Link's Awakening
  • Ring Fit Adventure
  • Luigi's Mansion 3
  • Tokyo Mirage Sessions #FE Encore
  • Pokemon Mystery Dungeon Rescue Team DX
  • Xenoblade Chronicles: Definitive Edition
  • Paper Mario: Origami King

B Tier - Good games that aren't quite amazingly great or are a little less appealing to the masses. I left out all of the eShop stuff (Good Job, Super Kirby Clash etc but they'd probably go here unless they are terrible like Flip Wars)

  • Fire Emblem Warriors
  • Snipperclips Plus
  • Bayonetta 1/2
  • Hyrule Warriors Definitive Edition
  • Nintendo Labo Toycon-04 VR
  • Sushi Striker: The Way of Sushi
  • Astral Chain
  • Clubhouse Games: 51 Worldwide Classics

C Tier - These games are probably not worth it unless you have a specific need or really love a particular genre

  • 1-2 Switch
  • Nintendo Labo Toycon-01/2/3
  • Daemon X Machina

@Don
I completely lost interest with BOTW at this point.
I bought on March 2020, played only a few hours then neglected the game for more than 3 years.
1-2-Switch is higher than BOTW since i like quirky games.

ARMS is my favorite Switch game currently, but Xenoblade Chronicles overall is the best game on the list (it's just not as well done as a Switch release). Paper Mario: The Origami King may slip into S tier for me, I don't know yet. In spite of my preferences that I have for the series from the first two games, I'm having a very good time with the game.

@Krull I should've put it like that. Too many categories 😅. But yeah, Paper Mario: Origami King is a must buy. I've played all of the Paper Mario's since Super Paper Mario and this one is my favorite without a doubt.

@LastJediKnight7 Tokyo Mirage Sessions isn't first party. It was just published by Nintendo, but it was still completely developed by Atlus

For the purpose of this thread, anything Nintendo published counts as long as it's exclusive to Switch or only available on other Nintendo platforms and not "rival" systems (I.E. Astral Chain, Bayonetta 2, and Marvel Ultimate Alliance 3 count, while Dragon Quest Builders, Bayonetta, and DQXI don't)

Might want to read the OPs ruleset.
