Hi my son has never had a problem with his controller ( He has the Nintendo Afterglow ) . His friend recently brought his Nintendo to the house and my son Harry connected his controller to his friends console . Since then we've tried absolutely everything BUT cannot connect the controller to his own console again . I've searched online , watched youtube videos ( everything ) but no luck . He's friend has been back here since and Harry controller connects to his perfectly ?

Any ideas ?

Thanks in advance .

@Loobytunes Ah, yes! Tell him to plug the pro controller into the dock to pair it. That should do it. Once it's paired, you can unplug it to play wirelessly.

The controller doesn't store a history of consoles it's paired with. It doesn't know your home console from your friend's. So, every time you take your controller to a different console, you need to plug the controller into the dock to tell it "this is the console we're using". Then you can unplug it to play wirelessly, like normal. That's how the system works.

Ha thank you so much for the reply but I wish it was as simple as that ...We've tried everything . When we plug it in ' it lights up and the pairing light comes on ( basically everything happens as it should ) except when he goes to ' change grip ' the console just won't read or connect to the pro controller .

@Loobytunes You're welcome.

Two options. You can call Nintendo UK support (after you pick the subjects on their contact page, it should give you a phone number). Or Nintendo has a toubleshooting page (their support page is a good resource). Basically, they suggest a few things:
reboot the console,
try using a different cable,
try using different usb port,
make sure the console is udated (via switch system settings)
make sure controller is updated(Switch settings/controller/update controller(controller needs to be plugged into receive update)
in case I missed anything, here's the official troubleshooting page

@Loobytunes A guess, but a possiblity?

If the controller battery is drained, many rechargable things need 30 minutes of charging before it will work again, and let you pair it.
