I hope you can walk into a store and get one around April in the US. I'm not planning on preordering here (Its almost 530 US dollars!) so I planned to get one there when I travel, and its going to be pain if its sold out everywhere...

I have a chronic lack of time, for everything.

Now playing: Okami HD, Mario Kart 8 Deluxe.

@Luna_110 Where'd you get the $530 figure? It's $530, but only if you include Zelda. Otherwise... it's still an insane amount of money.

@Dj64Mk7
The console here is 350.000 chilean pesos, and the exchange type is currently 1 US dollar = 660 pesos.
The results give around 530 US dollars.

The worst part? Since Nintendo doesn't have a direct representation here, they licensed the rights to third company, which is the one that defines the prices for Latin America. Add their profits and the profits of each specialty store, and you get this.

The special edition of Zelda (not the master) is about 150 dollars here, at the same exchange rate. That's why I want to take advantage of the trip to the US and get the Switch there.

@Luna_110 I see. I should mention that $530 figure included the Switch, Zelda, an extra Joy-Con set, and two charging grips.

@ChrispyNoodle @FragRed @gamermole I went into Game yesterday (just outside Manchester, UK). The manager said that Game stores in the UK had been allocated 20,000 units between them and all had been snapped up. They weren't expecting any more units (their second wave) until after launch day (he didn't know when) and the stock would likely be used to fulfill pre-orders. It will be a while before anyone can just walk in and pick one up from the shelf, and any pre-orders taken now can't be guaranteed a specific date for when the system would be received.

At the time of writing, Nintendo UK, Smyths, Tesco and Argos all have stock.

@Monkey_Balls Game should be, along with Amazon, one of the first places to sell out so I'm glad, if he's right, that it seems to be what's happening. As for supermarkets like Tesco, yeah I can understand them having stock still. Not usually somewhere people think when it comes to games, especially Nintendo related hardware/software. Do they even have Nintendo in stores?

Argos I think may sell out, and I'm kinda surprised Nintendo UK have stock still. As for Smyths, I don't know anything about them though I've heard the name. I assume it's a retail chain and not just a site?

@FragRed, Smyths is a toy superstore chain similar to toysrus. I put my pre-order in with them last Wednesday on a click and collect from my local store. Used them at Christmas to pick up a cheap copy of Dragon Quest Builders on PS4 the service on the click and collect side was good.
But as a general rule I usually use the usual online suspects, Shopto, The Game Collection, Amazon and if I have to Game. But by the time I had digested the reveal information all the online stores had sold out.
What I did notice though is while Smyths are charging £50 for Switch games, the prices for the accessories are expensive though.

@Farmboy74 What does Click and Collect mean?

Buy it online and collect it in person.

@Monkey_Balls Interesting.
Popped my head into my local GAME today (Eastbourne) as they have an deal offering half price Switch when you trade in your PS4 (hmmmm?) and the guy in store seemed to think they had a fair few units and getting one without pre ordering wont be any kind of an issue...

Looks like Amazon have pre orders available again in the UK and Game are saying more stock available. Perhaps not such an issue getting hold of a Switch for launch day?

I pre ordered mine online from Game at 6.30 a.m. on the day of the Nintendo presentation the second i noticed Games website had changed the price from £999.99 to the correct £279.99 Lol. I have no idea whether it'll arrive launch day though? Fingers crossed!

I was told the same, when I pressed them and asked if I had a guarantee to get it on release date (if I preordered), the manager begrudgingly said no, they can't do that.

Wouldn't be the first time Game sold stuff on the promise they "should" get more....

Switch games list,

Legend of Zelda BotW, Human resource machine, NBA Playgrounds, Street Fighter 2, Super Bomberman R, Snipperclips, Overcooked, World of Goo.

If you go on Twitter a lot of GAME stores are tweeting that they have more stock for day 1. However, I have spoken to numerous GAME employees on the live chat and have been inconsistently told that day 1 stock ran out on the 13th, 15th, 16th and 20th. In summary dont believe anything GAME say.
