If they fix a few of the major issues the original had I'll definitely buy it. Such issues specifically are;

• Stupid amounts of grinding between story chapters
• Repetitive story beats
• Not much character interaction
• Crazy difficulty curve

I would say the absence of an Easy Mode too, especially since Triangle Strategy had one.

I bought the OST and artbook for the first game so it might be worth it.

I still can't believe this is real. I loved what I played of the original (even if it was only each character's first chapter due to some....unfortunate difficulty spikes) and to see an actual sequel when it seemed all we'd get with the HD-2D games afterwards were spins on different genres (Triangle Strategy) or remakes (Live A Live/DQIII) makes me all the happier. I have to go beat the first one now in preparation for the sequel, this has completely reinvigorated my love for this beautiful gam-sorry: series now.

Also, whilst I'm here, someone's managed to rip the main theme off of the official website and man: I'm genuinely getting emotional hearing it. Especially when it crescendos halfway through? Nearly brought me to tears honestly.

Octopath made me a super fan of Yasunori Nishiki (Vivian) so I am happy to hear he is still pounding out the epic tunes. And I am glad that he kept the base theme for Octopath. I think I prefer (as of right now anyway) the original version but this is really really good. I already know I am getting this OST as well.

Edit: just started the demo. Game looks great!

Not to double post but it looks like there are two threads but since this one is older I will post here. Just picked up the full game. I’m still working on Fire Emblem so I think i will just grind levels in Octopath for now. But the game is absolutely gorgeous.

Wow, there really is very little discussion about this game! I guess this is another game that flew under the radar due to little marketing?

Anyway, I decided to give the demo a try over the weekend and I was blown away by the battle theme omg. I chose Agnea as my first character and after finishing the first chapter I added it to my wishlist. I know the demo says I can play for up to 3 hours but I really want to leave the remainder for when I get the full game lol.

Looking forward to it. Someone says, “Octopath Traveler II is supposed to be easier than the first one.”
