@HunterLeon I was only joking, I just like to do it with subtlety sometimes to see who will take the bait so don't always use emojis.

My point was really just correcting the assertion of it being the the third year. My bit about Nintendo moving focus and Paper Mario was just a joke because Paper Mario is releasing soon.

You guys had me at blood and semen.

What better way to celebrate than firing something out of the pipe?

Nothing is true. Everything is permitted.

@gcunit no problem! These things easily go missed online. I don't think this is the first time I've seen the assertion that Nintendo are abandoning the Switch however.

At least 2'8".

The reality is we're just spoiled out of our minds as modern consumers. If we don't want a AAA first-party game every other month, we want announcements for AAA first-party games coming out next month. There's not much any company can do to completely satisfy consumers these days.

Can we stop using the word consumer, and use customer instead? Feels really awful to see people talk about themselves as a "consumer".

But people like saying consumer so they feel like an industry insider

@gcunit Traditionally yes, but that's usually because their hardware is bleeding out in the market, if we're talking home consoles. 3DS, DS, etc. didn't have that 4th year dropout for example. 3DS surged that year, and for a few more. Wii....Wii had a weird trajectory. They still weren't focusing on WiiU (Clearly) but they also half abandoned the wee starting maybe year 5 or 6. But even Wii had a strong-ish 4th year. Arguably even 5th.

Depends on the life cycle they expect on the hardware, and they've said repeatedly from the start they expect a long cycle on this one (to the dismay of the "Switch Pro!" crowd.) And after ACNL and having launch-level sellouts and supply constraints well through the 3rd year, pandemic-induced or not, I think we've got some long sails on this unless sales crash. I'd use 3DS and DS as the guidepost here.

@Grumblevolcano Sony never promotes it's "B" fare too much. Ghost has been almost invisible unless you live in the PS world. I do agree though they'll wait to counter XB. Sony's strategy has always, and I mean ALWAYS been "go last and under-cut." (Except for the PS3....which was a total meltdown. In multiple meanings, until they basically built a whole different machine and slashed the price years later.)

@status-204 @jump The word customer has totally left the lexicon unless you're an insider....then "customer" is a PR buzzword to make the consumers feel at ease. "Customer satisfaction!" "Customer service" "Customer help hotline!" Customer doesn't have a meaning except as a patronizing pat on the back.

No, the new world has two groups, consumers and producers. And only organizations can be producers. The peasan....errrr.....consumers are the populace.

Consumer, definition - "A person who purchases goods or services for personal use."

It's an interesting choice of common word replacement though that, sets a tone through connotation. It's not customers. It's not even users. It's those who's principal role is to simply consume material. It's the implication that it's the base function of mindless consumption and disposal of all material like we're talking about bacterial colony maintained to process food sources to obtain the derivative byproducts.

Because that's precisely what it actually is referring to. A customer is a business relationship based on mutual respect. A consumer carries the implication of being an object of consumption as fed by a producer.

Sometimes language choice has connotative meanings that don't appear in a dictionary, and in this case, becomes so commonly used, those saying it have, themselves, lost understanding of that connotation.

That's the kind of stuff that puts massive walls between second-language learners and native speakers. Words can mean one thing by definition but mean something else in common use.

Guys, you need to check the upcoming games from playasia. There were some upcoming Switch games that completely not from the Direct.

@Anti-Matter - Games being announced or revealed, and never being mentioned in a Direct happens all the time, Anti-Matter. It's nothing to get that excited about. In addition to that, you come off like a digital ad for Play-Asia.

Sometimes, i found more interesting games on playasia outside the Direct when i compared them. Some of them are the games i have never expected if they will be exist. I know i am minority here but some upcoming games on playasia got my excitement.

I totally agree, especially since Sony delivered the goods (PS5, interesting games still planned for 2020).

At least Nintendo showed Paper Mario (wich is coming soon) and there is the new Pokemon snap (that might also be fun). But still no new Zelda trailer, no Metroid trailer, no Bayonetta trailer, etc. I guess its still coming, but the waiting is exhausting.

And what to think of Crash bandicoot 4? You would think that with the succes of the trilogy on Switch, there would be immediately a Switch version of Crash 4 in the works? Either Nintendo holds the announcement back, or there's really only a ps4 and Xboxone version at the moment. Meaning that we won't see a Switch version this year. I think its a crime!

@Anti-Matter

I don't disagree. In general I also prefer Eastern-developed games over Western-developed games. But I would appreciate it if you would contribute more than just, "OMG, go check out P-A, you guys!" What games in particular are grabbing your attention? I assume, knowing you, they're probably all lite on violence.

Personally, I'm eyeing a copy of Blair Witch. The Switch port looks pretty well done. Which I'm surprised is Japan-exclusive physically. I would've thought that would be a shoe-in for a western physical release, but I guess not.

"What games in particular are grabbing your attention?"

Well, Quirky and Casual games that only me have interest about. You might never heard about Pika Pika Nurse Monogatari on Switch, newest Sumikko Gurashi game on Switch, newest Doraemon game on Switch, Model Debut Nicola on Switch, Doraemon Story of Seasons PS4 version, New Super Luckys Tale PS4 version, etc.
But of course i will share about other games from playasia as long for me it's still appropriate enough for general audiences.

When i was searching the games from playasia, i used very strict filter to find the upcoming games (No mature games allowed) so i just only want to know the games with age rating Everyone, Everyone 10+ & Teen for USA release, CERO A & B for Japan release, PEGI 3 / 7 / 12 for Europe release.

Nintendo president Furukawa said on Friday during the investor meeting, that all first party games scheduled for 2020 are still on track.

So do you guys think we will still get around 7-8 big first party games this year in total (including Paper Mario and Animal Crossing)? 7-8 games seems to be the usual amount per year.

dionysos283

TheAwesomeBowser

Um... guys, you do realise we just got the GOTY, Jump Rope Challenge?

Jokes aside, if Nintendo wants to dissuade people from next-gen, they gotta announce some really big things FAST!

Own up to Joy-Con Drift, Nintendo. We all know it's your fault

Grumblevolcano

@dionysos283 No, I think if there was much more coming we would've gotten more teases last year so like a few more reveals in the September 2019 Direct (don't forget that the September 2018 Direct revealed both Animal Crossing and Luigi's Mansion 3) as well as a big reveal at the Game Awards 2019.

Those 2 events being limited suggested even before the pandemic that 2020 was going to be rather limited for Switch.

@Grumblevolcano
Yeah, I see your point. Last year's September Direct also had my worried for 2020. But a big Direct in early 2020 could have been canceled because of the pandemic, so I was wondering whether we could still get 4-5 big new first party games this year.

I think we get a few surprises... Maybe a big one for the holiday season. I don't see Nintendo just sitting on their hands for the Xmas season

@BabyYoshi12 I know your comment is pretty old, but the main game I bought a Switch for has not released yet and there is radio silence from Atlus about it. And if I have to wait a full decade to get it like I did SMT IV I'm out
