Tomorrow (March 3rd) is the big day for the hybrid video game console as it approaches it's 6th year into our lives.

What has been your favourite Nintendo Switch memory? Was it the first look, the launch or the massive games it had to offer in it's lifespan.

@Jac_Clow012 I went to one of the launch events where you could try the Switch prior to release - it was the only time i'd ever been to an event like it. That plus playing through BoTW the first time will be my favourite memories from the Switch.

More recently, helping my son play BoTW has been great too.

I own my switch since 2020 where i bought it with my first ever paycheck and by far my most treasured memory was booting Mario Odyssey for the first time and feeling like a little kid again, it was pure innocent fun, i loved every bit of that game!

It's amazing that it's been six years, yet the Switch feels just as magical now as it did back in 2017.

Sure, it could do with more processing power, but the increased battery life and vibrant screen of the OLED model have made the system itself such a joy to play.

Honestly it's difficult to point towards a single "favourite" memory from the Switch as there are just so many. Early in the lifespan (think 2017-8) I was enjoying fantastic titles such as Breath of the Wild, Mario Kart 8 Deluxe (on the go!), Super Mario Odyssey and Splatoon 2, as well as enjoying a few smaller titles such as Wonder Boy, Puyo Puyo Tetris and Shantae. As the library built up from 2019 onwards it's all but consumed the vast majority of my gaming time.

Long story short: the Switch has reinvigorated my interest in gaming...at a time that I was already pretty in to games. It's been like my first gaming experiences as a child all over again, and despite all sorts of problems in the game industry at the moment, I've never been more excited about the future of gaming in large part due to the Switch.

At least 2'8".

I will post my new hand drawing of Nintendo Switch 6th Anniversary here on the next day.

I only play kids games with a few rated Teen games that suitable for me.

I wasn't there at launch day. I didn't purchase a Switch until August of 2017. But shortly after owning one it quickly became my all-time favorite platform. For a casual consumer product, it's the closest realization of the concept of playing your console games portably.

The idea originated with the Sega Nomad and the Turbo Express in the 90's, but the Switch the is the natural progression as the technology advanced.

Specific memories are hard to pinpoint as I've spent so much time with my Switch, but undoubtedly March 3rd 2017 will always be a very favourite memory. My copy of BotW arrived, and I was waiting anxiously to see if my Switch would arrive too before my family came home - I'd ordered it in secret. It did arrive, about 90 minutes after my BotW copy, and I was able to indulge in some secret Day 1 Console Release magic for the first time in my life. A golden day for me.

Since then, probably the best moments have been winning battle royale games of Trio Fortnite with my two kids. So fun to be able to share the excitement of battle royale climaxes right there on the couch with my little mes.

Also attached to a memory of playing BotW in VR with the LABO goggles, just standing, scoping the environment ahead of me, when I heard an eagle cry above me and I could just tilt my head up to watch it circling in the sky. Very simple, but kinda encapsulates why I loved BotW so much.

What's especially cool is that we're on the eve of 6 years, I've loved it since Day 1, and yet my Switch story still feels like it's only just beginning. So many games I've collected but not got to playing yet, plus we've got the likes of Tears of The Kingdom and Metroid Prime 4 (+ 2 & 3 hopefully) still to come.

RIP Playstation, Xbox & Steam, not sure if I'll ever buy new hardware from you again.

I'm getting a Switch OLED for my birthday this year, figured I should upgrade my Switch (August 2017).

There's no way it's been 6 years.

I got mine on Christmas Day, 2019 with Splatoon 2 and Odyssey. The game library has expanded since then, with many smash hits releasing onto the console. It's one of my favorite consoles, just up there with the Wii (although the Wii is mostly seen through my nostalgia lens).

The Switch's successor better live up to its predecessor.

Hard to believe it's six years.

Hadn't planned on getting one.

I got extremely drunk the night before the launch, must've got Googling at some point that night about Nintendo's new console my brother had been telling me about.

Then dragged my hungover arse out to the shops to buy one the next morning, release day.

No pre-order needed, and I also grabbed BOTW with it.

It got me back into gaming after I'd stepped away for nearly a decade.

I'd have to say the launch of Smash Bros Ultimate. I was anticipating that game in a way I hadn't since college. Only thing I've pre-ordered in the last 10 years. Invited an old friend over who I used to game with regularly, and he, my wife, and I played for hours like we were in high school again.

I got my Nintendo Switch on late May of 2017 at my local Best Buy. It was really hard to get one at the time, since it sold like crazy, so I was quite happy to get mine. Mario Kart 8 Deluxe was the first game I got for my Switch, and I got Breath of the Wild soon afterward, which I spent so much hours on despite not even finishing the main story. Playing Super Mario Odyssey the day it came out was quite the magical experience, too, if I do say so myself... that is easily one of my favorite memories related to the Switch. It's been quite some time since we've had a free-roaming 3D Mario platformer at the time, and Nintendo pretty much nailed it with this game! I've gotten every Power Moon in the game in 2019, and I still have my collectible coin from when I preordered the game at Best Buy.

My other favorite memory was with Animal Crossing: New Horizons. I was already excited for the game after enjoying New Leaf, and New Horizons turned out to be the perfect game to tide me over when the pandemic began. Just like its predecessor, it's such a cute, relaxing, and feel-good game, and I managed to be friends with folks who would frequent the New Horizons thread on this very site. Everyone was super nice, and I'd get to see others' islands, make wishes to shooting stars to acquire star fragments together, getting artwork for my friends, among other things! I'm generally pretty happy with how my island and house turned out... sans the many, many flowers that kept appearing due to me watering them like mad, lol. I even got to make an amusement park on my island! I should come back to the game at some point... I have yet to get every bug/fish in the museum, and I should spend more time on Happy Home Paradise.

I've had the Original V1 Nintendo Switch, since March 3, 2017! 6 years ago at around 6PM, I've waited in line at GameStop with 5 other people. It was Freezing cold that night which is why the line was shorter than I expected it to be. We all got to know a little bit about each other. As soon as it was time, I couldn't believe what I've saw, how small the boxes were, The Nintendo Switch hybrid being taken out for the first time, I felt like it was the holidays and when I first got my Nintendo 64. I was so happy! I've kept my original V1 Switch until the Nintendo Switch OLED came out. It was the BEST upgrade I've decided on. Happy Birthday Nintendo Switch. 6 Incredible Years (helped me through 2 Divorces believe it or not), and hoping for more to come (no more divorces though lol)!

Six years already? Man, it sure doesn't feel like it.

I absolutely love this little beast of a system, that is the Nintendo Switch. For the longest time, my favourite console (not just Nintendo, but any gaming system) was the SNES, the Switch has since surpassed it.

At the time the Nintendo Switch came out, I had fallen out of love with gaming and honestly, I was just depressed and hated life (my routine was basically work, go home and sleep, get up to eat, sleep some more and repeat). This system came out though and I decided to pick it up, alongside Super Bomberman R and The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, anyways I genuinely believe this is where things started turning around for me.

I guess that would be my favourite thing, or at least one of them, as I slowly started getting back into gaming and finding enjoyment in things again and I credit the Nintendo Switch for playing a role in that. The other thing is sharing these gaming moments with my kids (technically step-kids) and seeing the happiness on their faces, as they play Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, Super Smash Bros.: Ultimate, or really any video game.
