Topic: Ni no kuni??

Nintendo and level 5 have a fairly good relationship. What confuses me is how ni no kuni hasn’t been announced for the switch yet.

For anyone who doesn’t know before this game made its way West it started its life as a Nintendo DS title, then was remade for the PlayStation 3 and the sequel announced for PlayStation 4.

With the switch taking off pretty much everywhere, don’t you guys feel it should come to switch?

If it did would it be enough for you to get it?
Or for those who didn’t play it when it originally came to ps3 would it be enough to tempt you to get it?

It was probably in development when Switch dev kits weren't out yet.
It will get ported soon.
Once I play the PS3 game, I'll get this one.

I concur it's probably in development and people are being told to be hush about it is the likely scenarios.

I'm playing the original on PS3 now (although it has been awhile since I've played it since I never play the PS3, I really need to get back into it). I think it's a great game, and would love for the sequel to come to Switch, although I doubt I would be willing to start over from the beginning to get the original if it came.

I've heard people refer to Ni No Kuni as a PS exclusive only out of necessity, since there hasn't been a viable platform for HD RPGs aside from PS for a while now. Now that the Switch is on the scene and proving itself to be a great console for games like Ni No Kuni, I would be surprised if it never comes to Switch.

Mario Galaxy is ten years old, and now I feel old.

And that Ni No Kuni that was released on the Nintendo DS in Japan should be considered a spinoff...

They would have to make compensations to get it on the Switch. I know it looks like the graphics are simplistic, but to make these games look great you need powerful hardware.

Also, technically, it isn't exclusive anymore since it is coming to PC. It's still a console exclusive though. Anyway, Level - 5 finally putting that Yokai Watch money to good use.

@NotAceAttorney Eh, if you look at the comparison of minimum vs maximum, I find that overall it barely look different- and I'm sure that Switch is good enough for the minimum at least? I'm not too sure

Like I actually thought it looks nicer on minimum vs maximum... but I'm probably weird.

(And if this is coming to Switch that will be great! I might end up just double dipping it since I already bought it on PC though, this looks like a game that will be good enough to be double dipped )

@darkfenrir I got my PS4 copy pre-ordered too. I'm so excited for this can't wait for Friday!

It's more than the overall look of the game. It's about performance as well. In this types of games, certain effects, like fire, are very intensive. I remember Naruto Storm 4 on PS4, they promised 60FPS. However, whenever you had a bunch of fire effects going on, it would start to stutter.

I do think it's possible they can get Ni No Kuni 2 running on the Switch. Just that it may come at some great costs. Honestly, I think we have to wait till we play the game. Then we should be able to tell if it can work out for the Switch. It's mainly the handheld part I would have doubts about.

@NotAceAttorney Same! I'm trying to finish the other game I bought this month as fast as I can just to be able to play Ni no Kuni when it comes out (bamco preload please, please)

hmmmm that's true, I just think with the lowered resolution on the handheld (720p max after all), should do a lot in the lowered processing power for those effects

But yeah... I'm just hoping it'll come out to Switch, but I won't hold my breath XD let's just be excited it's even out soon! (With level 5 being good devs but they take FOREVER to get them out I feel)

@darkfenrir Yeah they delayed this game twice. I'm just finishing up Radiant Historia since I won't be touching anything else until I am 100% done with Ni No Kuni. I may even go for the Plat trophy, something I don't usually do.

@NotAceAttorney Meanwhile I'm finishing FFXV... already on chapter 13 + just need to finish Ignis and Comrades DLC (I don't mind Comrades, that one can be played slowly while waiting for friends )

hngh. I hope I can do as much as I can in Ni no Kuni 2 as I did in Xenoblade 2 huehue

I don't know a lot about the game but it looks really cool from what I've seen, so I'd probably buy it on Switch as I don't have a PS3/4.

Guys, it's OBVIOUSLY all that Sony hush-hush money.

The IGN review is a bit of a shame. Basically says its far too easy (combat wise) and in their words "..a 40 hour stroll..."

@pbb76 I've read that in a few places now. Is unfortunate that the game is a cakewalk, but looking forward to the atmosphere and immersion more than anything else. The first game had spikes, but couldn't really be described as being a difficult game. Just a JRPG without the grind (and still 40ish hours!).

Kimyonaakuma

I would be very happy if the sequel comes to Switch. The PC version shows lots of options so it should be able to scale down to run well.
Worst case scenario we would get a 720p version at 30fps and without lots, if any post processing. The art style would survive if the resolution was 720p, it's not super detailed.

We will probably need to wait a while if it's going to get ported though, the current version has been delayed enough as is.

I'm looking forward to playing this on PS4. Being a level-5 game I can see it being ported to switch. Not going to wait for it though.

I'm not a fan of easy games, don't like the chibi parts either, but besides that it looks like a game I will love. (Huge studio ghibli fan)

A piece of the Triforce appeared before you! (>'.')> Touch it now!

The first Ni No Kuni is a hidden gem on PS3 and easily in my Top 30, maybe Top 20 favorite games. I am so looking forward to picking up the King‘s Edition on Friday and would definitely double dip on a Switch port.
