@GrailUK@FishyS I could see there being a Super Nintendo World Direct showcasing the DK expansion before the next general Direct (the expansion opens later this year). Considering we know the expansion is inspired by DKC Returns, it would explain why DKC Returns HD was announced back in June rather than September despite being a January release.
August direct sounds so weird to me. But it makes sense if their plans for the successor are a go and they want to put out all the remaining switch stuff first to squeeze the last bit of life out of switch sales before the transition
Oh man I’m not ready, the switch is almost finished
A lot of people are saying an Indie World could happen next month. Does anyone know what months they usually have Indie World presentations? I don’t really watch them, but I might try to speculate and make a guess on when that could happen.
@LinkxPeach I do think a lot of those are guaranteed, can agree. Maybe they could talk about the next console possibly next year, maybe early 2025, cuz I think there were reports that said the console wasn’t expected to release early next year, which tells me that the console could be released later in the year, but I’ll just wait for official confirmation and info for that. I really can’t wait to see what they might show during a possible September direct since a lot of the already announced games are releasing soon. I’m gonna miss the Switch when it gets discontinued and replaced…
Agreed. Maybe, they’ll talk about the Nintendo Switch 2 in October Direct.

Looking for friends to play Mario Tennis: Aces, Pokken Tournament DX, Diablo III: Eternal Collection, etc. on Nintendo Switch with.
I can honestly see September being a partner showcase with games like Echoes of Wisdom, Brothership and Jamboree getting their own trailers at seperate times.
Interesting, Echoes of Wisdom and Super Mario Party Jamboree are playable at PAX West. So we're likely getting more news about Jamboree before the event.
@Croctopus Highly doubtful we'll be seeing a single title direct at this stage in the Switch's life-cycle. This'll almost certainly be the final Switch exclusive general Nintendo Direct in-terms of games shown. @LinkxPeach Although a quickie 5 minute or less showcase of the new system with a tech demo trailer being shown certainly wouldn't be out of the realm of possibilities in the upcoming Direct.
@FishyS I'm pretty out of the loop, what's this leak you're talking about?
PH Brazil (the leaker who first reported on the apparent delay of Switch 2) has repeatedly said there will be some type of direct in August (he later clarified it was not the museum direct). His track record isn't 100% though so who knows.
@VoidofLight
Ahh, the cycle of "leakers". Right until they're wrong and then when they're wrong we all jump onto the next person who has a good track record. Until they're wrong and.....

@GrumblevolcanoSeptember 17-19th (just that week in general) seems most likely. Like you said, most other weeks have stuff going on. There were rumors about stuff happening this month because they were supposedly making room for the Switch Successor’s announcement in September, but I don’t think that’s very likely.
I could see a situation similar to 2016 when they had a 3DS-focused Direct in September and then a formal Switch reveal in October. Possibly a Switch-focused Direct week of September 16 and then a Switch Successor reveal sometime in October?
Here’s what we know about Nintendo’s October plans so far:
Nintendo Museum opens October 2nd
Super Mario Party Jamboree releases October 17th
more Animal Crossing Pocket Camp shutdown info sometime in October (this wouldn’t usually mean much for announcements but they may not want to announce the Switch Successor around the same time as a shutdown)
The weeks of October 7, 21, and 28 are still open as far as I know. Early October can be a key time for Nintendo announcements, so if I were to guess it’d be the first full week of October.
@FishyS
A general Direct in August sounds a bit weird as I don’t ever recall one in August. Especially only two months after a big Direct that took place recently.
@Don Technically the leak didn't say general direct, just some type. But the reasoning was supposedly to make the schedule earlier to fit Switch 2 reveal later on this year.
None of us seem to have any confidence in leakers at all at the moment, but it is curious that one of the few remaining leakers with any credibility left to their name made a very specific prediction for a very unusual time of year. And repeatedly doubled down on it. It feels like they are betting all their remaining credibility on a week which basically no one would normally predict.
Granted, when/if they are wrong they'll just make an excuse 😆
@PikminMarioKirby I'm still leaning towards a March 2025 reveal for Switch 2. That said, MH Wilds at Sony's TGS booth (MH is a huge hardware sales driver in Japan) and the general reaction to Indiana Jones coming to PS5 (the doom and gloom from the Xbox playerbase sounds more extreme than the February Xbox multiplatform rumours) has me less confident than before.
Just noticed the number of weekly eshop releases is at a rare low, a rare low that (apart from the dead area around new years) has only been matched in the last year by the 2 weeks before the June 2024 direct and the week before the September 2023 direct and.... in February when there was supposedly going to be a direct that got delayed/ turned into a partner showcase.
I am definitely not clutching at straws. 😆 But it is a remarkably consistent pattern I wouldn't have noticed if I hadn't been making a graph of the number of entries in the weekly on-Switch 'new releases' article.
