@Grumblevolcano What do you think the odds are that it will announce a late November game as the 12th Nintendo switch game for the year?

I don't think we're getting a Pokemon game this year. Gamefreak most likely would've announced it in the Pokemon Day presents if we were getting something like a remake of X and Y, or if we were getting a port of an older game.

@VoidofLight Hard to know. They could have a port or spinoff console game they didn't want to be completely overwhelmed by the Pokemon Legends announcement. I think it's been decades since there was a year with no Pokemon releases on Nintendo hardware at all. That said, there is a first for everything.

@FishyS Ehhh. My thinking is that they would've still shown it at the Pokemon Day presents if it were coming. Especially if PLZ-A was seemingly only really announced as it was because they had to supplement Pokemon Pocket due to the disappointment that was going to bring to people and investors.

@FishyS I think Brothership is a huge indicator. Pokemon remake studio releases a Mario RPG a few weeks before the normal Pokemon slot doesn't make much sense if there's a Pokemon RPG in the normal slot. Maybe there's a spinoff like Mystery Dungeon but I think it's more likely for something like Prime 2+3 to be the other November slot.

At the very least, it may have more information about Legends Z-A, including the exact launch date - which I would greatly prefer not to be early 2025.

@Grumblevolcano This as well, yeah. I keep forgetting that Brothership is releasing around the same time that a normal Pokemon title generally tends to release.

I guess we only get to collect denpa men this year instead of Pokemon.

This is probably akin to that break that Gamefreak took between ORAS and Gen 7. A year without a game at all.

@VoidofLight there were multiple Pokemon games in 2015; they were spinoff games, but they existed. This would be the first 'no Pokemon on Nintendo at all' years since... 1997 maybe? And 1997 barely counts since the franchise was barely starting. So it would essentially be the first time they missed a year. Unless something gets announced.

Hopefully Pokemon skips a year because obviously they need more development time.I thought we were getting the Trading Card Game Mobile this year, I hope that stays the only thing.

we’ll likely hear about Legends Z-A sooner rather than later. It’d be nice to get a release window. Probably at the potential Pokemon Presents however those are usually just filled with random half-anniversaries of their mobile games XD

My guess is that if we’re getting any more Nintendo games in 2024 (besides the ones already announced) it’s gonna be ports or a Kirby spin-off.

I mean... there have been around 20 companies over time that have worked on Pokemon games; it's not like it is just Game Freak. There could be a spinoff being worked on by some completely unexpected dev so 'more development time' isn't necessarily an issue.

And yeah, I wasn't counting the mobile gane; the Pokemon franchise as a whole is still running strong this year, it's just the no-Nintendo-games that has essentially never happened before.

I'm wondering more about the Switch 2 reveal. They gave us a window of before the end of the fiscal year, but if the rumors of a another March release are correct, August would be an ideal time for the reveal so it could be any day now. What does everyone think the odds are of August reveal and March release? Could the Switch 2 be on track for March or pushed even further to say, Q1 2025 reveal and Holiday 2025 release?

@Bolt_Strike I think the latter theory is far more likely. The march release for the first switch was likely out of desperation to get the Wii u replaced ASAP. I would probably expect a return to the standard Holliday release window for the next console.

@Grumblevolcano That’d be nice, but I’m not sure that they can fix it at this point. They said that they would, but it’s been a long time now and they’ve only patched a few things, and at the same time added even more glitches. I certainly am not expecting it, although it would be nice.

FishyS

@Grumblevolcano Zero chance of that. I'm not even sure it would even be a positive this late considering 25 million people already played the game. Personally it would just annoy me.

They already fixed most of the actual glitches that aren't simply graphical jank so to 'fix up' the main remaining issues they would have to completely change certain aspects of the graphics and add level scaling of some sort. And perhaps change the cardboard towns and awful clothing options. I could imagine all of that happening in some future remaster or remake, but certainly not as a random patch.

@PikminMarioKirby I feel like there aren't actually many true glitches. (edit : in the main game, not the DLC) . What most people call glitches are just graphical and camera jank that honestly have been in most large-scale 3D games for decades. Sure, it doesn't feel polished (at all) for a modern game, but I wouldn't call it 'glitchy'. Even on day one they had a nice system set up to prevent soft locks for example (you get saved and taken to a Pokemon center).
Pokemon that don't visually show up until you are an inch away? occasional wall clipping? graphical jank. Sure, if you spend 100s of hours looking for glitches you will find some actual ones but that is true in BotW also.

I played 100-ish hours and hardly encountered anything I would call a glitch beyond the fun ones like jank-climbing things you clearly aren't supposed to be able to climb and even then they have special dialogue when you get to a place before you are supposed to be there which is actually pretty clever.

@FishyS I was referring to stuff like the game randomly freezing. I had big issues with Teal Mask when it came out so I stopped playing and then saw from reviews that the update with Indigo Disk made the game even more unstable.

Grumblevolcano

FishyS

@Grumblevolcano Oh, ok, I admit I never played or payed much attention to the DLC; I thought you meant the main game. In which case I agree the DLC should be patched. I was more thinking about the more common complaints about the game. Sorry for the confusion.
