Topic: Next Nintendo Direct?

@Grumblevolcano @OctolingKing13 Yeah I hope pre-orders come up soon as well. I have a feeling we are waiting a while for Switch’s Successor, but’s it’s possible we could hear at least a little something before these games come out. I feel like pre-orders will probably open soon, as we usually have at least a couple months to do so.

The Nintendo Direct tab on the eShop feels so empty since so much isn’t on the eShop yet!

Still on the topic of leakers, it really is crazy that it seems to be one leaker going after another as of late, and it’s the more legitimate ones that are getting taken down now while the more iffy ones are getting more and more reliable after correctly guessing info on games that appeared during the Direct.

First it was Midori being revealed to be a fake and having ran out of leaks almost immediately after starting his leaking career shortly followed up with Pyoro acting weird after getting info on the Direct wrong for the first time followed by his sources potentially being revealed and seemingly getting found out by Nintendo and erasing his internet presence as a result. The Midori situation was shocking, but I didn’t expect another reliable leaker to go down only a few days later.

How do leakers benefit from leaking? I don't get it. I feel sorry for them if they crave that sort of attention.

@GrailUK They get clout. That's all they care for. The attention and feeling of being a prominent figure which people consistently talk about. That's why leakers leak, and why fake leakers make fakes.

I mean... most public-facing social media of every form is about getting attention. So not exactly surprising. Sure, some get money from it, but for most it is just attention and the feeling of power/influence (e.g. 'influencers')

For good or bad, Pyoro held some influence over thousands of people and what they thought and talked about.

@VoidofLight I can recall seeing a “leak” of the supposed “Switch 2’s” UI that someone shared on this site a few days ago and the person that created the original picture was clearly faking it, since they know that if they make a fake “leak” of something that has been wanted and anticipated by millions of people around the world, they’ll get attention and earn clout. The “UI” looked bad in my opinion, and it’s really the supposed details for the next console that gave away that it was a fake from how unbelievable they are.

Leaking just doesn’t seem worth it to me now after seeing that two reliable leakers got caught and erased their presence online, not to mention it brought them a ton of trouble and they could possibly get sued now. Some leakers also like to act super smug when they get things right and get attention and then when they get a piece of info wrong, they proceed to get angry and rant about it, sort of like what Pyoro did when he got so much information on the recent Direct wrong and got things mixed up. I also think that rant was because he was one of the few leakers who actually had a 100% correct track record before this point, and he probably did not ever expect be wrong and having some not so legitimate leakers and random people on ResetEra get info on the Direct correct.

To me, Pyoro never seemed to act smug and was probably better than other leakers behavior-wise, but he was the last leaker I would have expected to see get upset over getting info wrong.

@PikminMarioKirby @FishyS I think the US online retailer situation is about games being sent out early. There was a situation with Pokemon X/Y being sold early in the UK and the whole of Europe got punished with the Europe release of ORAS and Sun/Moon being about a week later than the rest of the world.

@Uncle_Franklin There is a Level-5 event in Summer 2024, may appear there. Though the game was given a 2025 release last year so you may see the next news be after Fantasy Life i releases.

Although I can’t confirm so if someone else knows please say. I am aware it was locked, however it seems completely gone now.

I'm not very excited for whatever Level 5 puts out. They basically started using generative Ai in the development of their games.. and it kind of lost me a bit. People are saying that there's a chance Level 5 could be developing the new Mario and Luigi- and if that's true.. I'm probably going to stay away from it.

While I also thought Brothership was slightly reminiscent of Level-5's games, I was more strongly reminded of the work of Next Level Games - but either way, it's looking likely the developer is ILCA, as at least 11-13 AlphaDream developers work there now (with up to 24 more possibly having moved there, though that's unrealistic; it's just that 24 AlphaDream employees haven't been credited on any games since they closed). Nintendo already confirmed that some members of AlphaDream are involved with the game, which makes ILCA likely simply because it wound up with more AlphaDream employees than any other game developer.

@PikaPhantom Yeah, I think ILCA is the most likely. Wouldn't be surprised if the two Alpha Dream employees working under Nintendo had some involvement either.

I actually can see this being an ILCA game as well, since ILCA is great at mocking multiple artistic styles. BDSP looked a lot like the original Diamond and Pearl style-wise with it just being translated into 3D models instead of just 2D Sprites. The One Piece game they made also looks pretty much like the anime but with a slight tinge of realism to some degree. They're really good with basically adapting styles to fit whatever they're making, and so I genuinely could see them working on Mario and Luigi.

And don't forget Sand Land, where they translated Toriyama's art style to 3D graphics.

@DarkRula Yeah, Sand Land is a really good looking game and matches Toriyama's style perfectly. Not worried at all with the New Mario and Luigi.

My first reaction to the Pyoro news was, "well, somebody just got fired, lol."
