Topic: New Switch - Old Cartridges

Hi, I bought my son a new switch as his old one was going to cost too much repair and was out of warranty. Can I use the old cartridges in the new switch? When we put one of them in it did not work.

All Switch cartridges should work in all versions of the Switch .... So, what exactly do you mean by 'it didn't work', @dugless? When you put it in, nothing at all happened?

@dugless Just to bolster BruceCM. The cartridges work in all Switch consoles. However, game progress save files are stored on Switch internal memory. Either you transfer the save files to a new Switch, or start the game over, unfortunately.

That's what I did wonder about but thought I'd check .... Once or twice, I've had to re-insert a cart, perhaps give it a wipe with a dry cloth, etc, so it could be that

No they won't. Unless you get the converter module.

thanks guys, they are working now. i got my son a new switch as the old one packed up. when we put his cartridges in the new one last night nothing happened. i tried them again today and they are working fine!!

Glad that's all sorted, @dugless .... Probably just didn't quite get them in properly, for future reference!

thanks for your help bruce, yes the boy put a cartridge in last night when he was tired, maybe just never put it in properly. all the best
