@JaxonH Yeah true, the weapons usually need one so it's nice to keep at least one spare just in case if you can.

My main issue forever is always the early rank parts. Now we are in Sunbreak, I really dunno why they haven't added a system to allow me to obtain those high rank or low rank rewards without needing to hunt the monsters. I know it takes like a minute to do a low rank, or like five minutes to do a high rank now but it is still such a pain in the ass every time you have about ten times the materials you need on one end and then none on the other. I've done the hard part, just let me craft my toy!

I also think world or argosy specific materials shouldn't be used for crafting, if there is no way to obtain them other than pure RNG.

I do think the new universal upgrade system at the Sunbreak end game though addresses a lot of my frustrations. And in fairness, I felt like in World I would be fighting the same monster dozens of times over to get the parts I needed to make anything, but with Rise it was usually money I ran out of before parts. Thank goodness for platinum eggs in Sunbreak.

@JaxonH Thanks. I'll play around with Great Sword and Switch Axe. If the latter is too involved, though, I'll probably go for the Great Sword. The more time I spend trying to think about what I want to do, the less I'm actually focused on the movements of the monster.

Thanks for all the help getting me through the story! I'm in ending cutscenes now, gonna be a while. Probably gonna spend some time solo figuring out armor and where to go from here. Just an FYI so you don't hang around the hub waiting for me forever

My in-game name is 'Ser Carl-John', and looking forward to hopefully hunting soon! Got to sort my dog now, but probably back on tomorrow some point. Will do some solo play also and work to get through low level MR as a priority... so I can then rumble with the 'big dogs' !

...Wondering if I should try online again...I kinda got a bunch of quests to clear while waiting for MR100. (almost at 70 at least)

I'll be out of state as of tomorrow morning and I don't trust hotel wifi. So no hunting until next weekend, most likely.

But I can't wait to hunt with you guys some more!

I'm so impatient. I got a final boss mantle from the quest we failed- I got one, single broken part quest reward, and it was a mantle lol. So I'm itching to craft his armor. Doesn't really have the skills I want but it looks sick, has crazy defense and has NINE level 2 or higher slots. So I can gem in a number of skills.

Almudron has best Switch Axe skills but low defense. Best compromise is probably Malzeno. So I do need to farm him- at least for his weapon right away, since I have the amiibo layered armor I could use in the meantime.

But there's sooooo many layered armor sets I want! I need to hurry up and get to MR10 so I can start getting tickets!

Ahhhhh!!! They're all so good! And I like Snowshear too! Oh my goodness. I'm gonna be playing this game til 2023. And with all the new content and monsters coming, that's not even hyperbole.

@JaxonH Honestly? I don't think Rise requires very much internet connection to work. Shockingly enough I can hunt online with randoms using my phone wifi hotspot and it runs perfectly well!

Worst that can happen regardless is you get disconnected and the hunt auto-adjusts for the reduced number of players on both ends because that's a thing that the game does now. So there's no harm in attempting it.

I always do pass codes or the room fills up with randoms and the friends I want to join can't. And I don't like kicking ppl who join if I didn't pass protect it first

But I always use the same code every time, 5477. Ppl who hunt with me often likely have it memorized.

@Ulysses Or private messages. Although I suppose the lack of those cuts down on spam and harrassment as is common on PSN.

You'd think inviting someone to hunt with you would automatically give them access to your lobby, wouldn't you?

So, the MR30 urgent is the supremely annoying Allmother Narwa fight. I've been playing with randoms, and, while I was playing docked, I failed the hunt five times because people kept dying to it.

A little while later, I decided to play the game undocked and just listen to a podcast or something, since some group would eventually survive long enough to allow me to get past the urgent quest. Lo and behold, that first undocked playthrough was a success!

Lesson learned. Only play Monster Hunter off the TV from now on.

Boy oh boy did I make a killer mix set, and a version of it for online play with you guys that's gonna give you Wide-Range +5 to ensure you're topped up at all times!

Problem is, I don't have any MR layered armor at the moment, so I'm using the Black Belt layered armor- it looks good with Lunagaron Greatsword. But as soon as I farm out Malzeno's greatsword I can use the amiibo layered armor for Formal Malzeno until I can get enough tickets to farm his real layered armor (and then make other sets for other weapons too).

When hunting solo I swap out Wide-Range to max out Earplugs to 5 and boost Evade Distance up to 2

Or only play solo (or with reliable friends) for super hard Quests. I had a dude join me against Lunagaron and carted twice within 10 min. I made sure to cap it asap to avoid failing the hunt. Randoms come unprepared fairly often, it seems.
