@Grumblevolcano it was doing fine, people were just doing the usual NintenDOOM at the time. The 3DS actually outside the DS in its first year.

@JoeyTS It's sold out on many websites. I suppose that it's because of the scalpers but I'm not sure that it will be easy to find when it releases. I don't know how this could end considering that it's a limited release.

$20 a pop isn't that bad honestly, especially for three game of the year or even game of the generation(in some folks eyes) games. Value is certainly subjective; I can't fathom how people can spend $60 on FIFA and/or Madden every year, but yeah.

Agree with everything you said there, dude.

I'm honestly paying the full price just for Sunshine and the soundtracks.

64 and Galaxy will be bonus content.

Mario 64 for $20 is a bit steep though, for a game nearly everyone's already played and is available on so many other platforms (especially if you include the DS version, which I personally enjoyed once you had the analog stick on the 3DS).

Now if it was Sunshine, Galaxy and Galaxy 2, I think it would be a complete no-brainer. No doubt in my mind that'd be worth $60.

What if we pretend it's $5 for 64, and $5 for each soundtrack.

I can't be the only one that finds value in the inclusion of a music player with the official soundtracks. Right?

@Eel

I've never cared about soundtracks at all. Lol if I want to hear the music I'll either find it on youtube or just go and play the relevant level in the game!

And I don't care about Super Mario 64, but I'm aware that is also content included in the package.

These are the literal soundtracks they sell physically, judging by their usage of the album covers. I assume it's not like in Smash Bros, where you can just listen to the in-game audio in a menu.

The Super Mario 64 soundtrack probably costs more than the game itself. Depending where you live.

@Eel They are the literal soundtracks, I have the Galaxy one (was a Club Nintendo reward) and the album artwork is identical to the one on the back of the 3D All Stars boxart.

Eel

Yeah, that's what I think.

Nintendo game soundtracks are quite rare for me, so even though I'd rather have them phisically as CDs (easier to rip) or digitally on Apple Music or Spotify, these are a nice inclusion.

You aren't but in-game soundtracks should be a considered a bonus if you're buying the games.

I also love CDs.

I'd say that with the collection being $60, each game comes to about $20, with the soundtracks being bonus content.

So many consoles to get, so little time.

Pre-ordered this on Amazon, hoping for the best. I don't pre-order games often, I do if I'm definitely going to get said game, or if I can't make it to the store on release and I want it delivered instead.

@Eel Nope, you're not the only one. Last year, I listened to the Smash Bros. soundtrack on my Switch during a car ride. Also, I use to do this with some of the Sonic GBA games on the original model GBA's headphone jack. It's a nice extra to have.

@Sunsy I preordered it on Amazon as well. You know me - I love the Mario series and it's nice to have these classics on Switch. Especially with how you can take it anywhere - now I can play Super Mario Sunshine while I'm on the bed. XD Good luck with getting your copy.

@BlueOcean I love CDs as well, I really dig their futuristic look and even their jewel cases. I have some game soundtracks on CD, too.

@MarioLover92 I have some game soundtracks on CD as well. I also pre-ordered on Amazon 😁. I don't have many Switch games because I have a Wii U and the Switch library is full of Swi... I mean Wii U games but I need to have Super Mario Sunshine in 16:9 1080/720p. Colours look nicer, too. Super Mario 64 looks smoother and crisper. Super Mario Galaxy looks better in HD, obviously. I expected much more but whatever. The soundtracks are nice to have, too.

@MarioLover92 Thanks, I'm hoping to play Sunshine first, it's been years since I've played it. Never had the chance to play Galaxy. Super Mario 64 on the other hand, I ended up downloading it on Wii U a few months back thanks to Super Mario 64 videos filling up my recommendations on YouTube. XD

@BlueOcean The only game soundtrack I have on CD is Sonic Adventure 2. Never found other game soundtracks on CD.

The resident Trolls superfan! Saw Trolls Band Together via early access and absolutely loved it!

@BlueOcean Yeah I do like how they bumped the resolutions up to HD for these games, especially for SMS. That game didn't have a 16:9 ratio to begin with so that was cool to see. It's admittedly been a while since I played it. I will admit, if they remade those games from the ground up with redone soundtracks and graphics as good as SMO, as well as adding SMG2, that would've been super awesome. But yeah...it just seemed less and less likely the more time passed since we first heard about those rumors. :/ The compilation still looks pretty good IMO, and yeah the soundtracks are a nice bonus.

@Sunsy Well you're in for a treat when you get to Super Mario Galaxy - in one of the Nintendo Life threads I ranked all the 3D Mario games and I ended up putting SMG on the very top! It's one of my favorite games of all time so I highly recommend it. I still have my Sonic Adventure 2 soundtrack CD too.

Haven't played Sunshine in a longgg time. I put it in just to how the controls felt. Surprised there's no option to invert the analog stick for aiming FLUDD. We'll see if they give us the option on the Switch.

They have tons of preorders up for the physical on Taobao. Probably the Hong Kong version since it’s going for around 360 元 (~$52) with shipping. It doesn’t look like scalping will be much of an issue here for at least the first several months of release here, because most of the people buying a lot of the stock here are just Console/Software importers and people with small shops, not scalpers.

I’m in no way justifying what Nintendo is doing here though. Nintendo goes so hard on the emulation and hacking community, while offering these silly limitations on the availability and stock of their products. They are just bolstering the demand.

But maybe they’ll change their mind like they did with cloud saves in Animal Crossing and course creation limitations in Mario Maker 2.

@MarioLover92 I agree, not adding SMG2 is such a letdown and weird at the same time. I think that they'll add it later on.
