lol dude... you made numbers up. Not good when you use made-up numbers to support a point. All I'm saying. If you can't see the logic in that, I don't know what to say.

You make a lot of generalizations and assumptions, my friend, a lot - and again, you're using me as a punching bag, but hey, I'm down for it.
I'm not anti-patch. I just think this one is an example of a patch that wasn't really needed, and it would have kept the game complete on cart. That's really all there is to it, but you're reading waaaaaaaay into my values mindset and lol... it's the internet, so I shouldn't be surprised.

Good news, you are welcome to not update the game and play off the cart all you want. Meanwhile, people who don't like their games freezing (something which is apparently common enough one of the small handful of people in this conversation had it happen to them multiple times) can update the game. win win.
Fundamentally, regardless of what you (or any of us) think about the arguments in this thread, Nintendo chose the thing that is better for them as a company and presumably what they decided was best for the most players. Although not 100% consistent, Nintendo has a reputation for polish and they are upholding that. Would it have been better if they had found the more major bugs they patched before release? Sure. But they didn't.
But even in enterprise software there is no shortage of bugs that people become fond of for one reason or another.
That is so true 😆 I have personally avoided an update in a tool for months simply because I had already written a script to get around the issue and changing it takes time. Then, inevitably, I realize if I want people who aren't me to also use the tool, the update will make things much easier.

Lol nice sarcasm - hitting some buttons, eh? I don't see you get ruffled often.
Joking aside, of course you are correct - we've (hopefully) all known that for the length of this discussion, most patches are entirely optional. Most games can still be played without downloading patches, though there are an increasing number that cannot.
But still, the game isn't complete on cart, it's just technically not if there are patches released for it. Some people don't like that. Personally, I don't care. I download every patch. But I can see why some people like to know that the most recent version of the game is entirely on the cart, hence the actual and original purpose of this thread lol
