Topic: Is there a Dr Mario in the house?

Excluding the mobile game, because that isn't a REAL Dr. Mario, the last Dr Mario game was Miracle Cure in 2015. Whatever happened to the series? If Nintendo likes it enough to slap a skin of it over another game, why hasn't there been another one?

(When looking up info about the release date of Miracle Cure, it seems that Arika has been busy with Tetris 99, Pac-Man 99, and Super Mario Bros 35. That might be the reason why there hasn't been a Dr Mario game since. Though, does that mean the next Dr Mario game might be Dr Mario 99?)

I really loved the mechanics of Dr. Mario World. I don't play it anymore (I haven't really played mobile games at-all during the pandemic) but it was my go-to on my phone at that time (when I had an Internet connection too, ugh).

The franchise seems like a natural fit for the "99" brand as you suggest, but I'd be fine with a modernized version of the original too. I still play that on the NES app every now and again.

Last year's Brain Training had a touch--controlled Dr. Mario knock-off which I had spent quite a bit of time with.

I'm a little surprised that they haven't ported Dr. Luigi yet.

Though a new game with a singe-player campaign akin to Puyo Puyo Tetris would be pretty neat.

Arika also released their F2P fighter Fighting Layer EX on Switch a few weeks ago.

I would be surprised if Dr. Mario 99 isn't already in the works. But since the original NES version + a special version are part of the NSO service they can take their time.

I'll be honest, I've never gotten into Dr. Mario, and I'd have far more interest in trying to make Puzzle League a thing again.
