There are plenty of options, like using the right stick as the accelerator, or having a motion controlled accelerator.

Or they could let you use another controller like the GameCube one, or Xbox/PS controllers (that work with an adapter), or bring out a new analogue Pro.

Or make it a Forza Labo edition, so you could have pedals and a wheel.

Game Pass is fantastic value, but otherwise nah. Most of Microsoft/Sony's games don't appeal to me as much as Nintendo's games. Honestly as a matter of fact, most Western AAA games aren't to my liking.

@EvilLucario That's about how I feel. While I AM more inclined to want to play games on portable systems than on pure home consoles, I still would have checked out most of these Western AAA games if they interested me, but they just don't. I vastly prefer the Japanese AA third party support Nintendo tends to receive.

It's a complicated idea. It's not as impossible as you'd think. MS announced they're doing streaming in the future (in addition to XBox hardware.) Given their very good relationship with Switch over crossplay (someone said in another thread Larry Hryb was walking around the XBox booth with his Switch showing people Fortnite crossplaying with XBox), there actually is the possibility the XBox streaming service could come to Switch when it comes out. Of course it's streaming...so it may not play too well. If I could cross save and play my Assassin's Creed: Origins on my Switch on the go? Sure that might be cool...if bandwidth allowed. The UI would suck horribly though. PS Now...never going to happen. nVidia's new streaming service? Well Switch is half an nVidia product, so sure, that could happen. But it wouldn't matter to me if it wasn't cross save. I wouldn't want to play a whole game streamed when I could play top quality on the X1X or P4P.

@Ralizah " Western AAA games if they interested me, but they just don't. ".....and then you hang out in the PS4 thread and seemingly played everything

@Ralizah We just need more AA games in general, no matter where the sort. Hellblade: Senua's Sacrifice hopefully proved the viability of AA games for other people to be inspired by. Less crazy budgets and more games to attract a wider swath of people to supplement the big AAA games. It seems we're literally only getting indies or AAA games from the West, which really does suck.

@NEStalgia Well, I do like to play widely, but, aside from Fallout 4, Uncharted 4, TLOU Remastered, and GTA V, I've avoided Western AAA games the last several years. Too many games are going the "cinematic" route and fixate on ultra-violence for my tastes. Although I am kind of looking forward to that "Ghost of Tsushima" game. The developer is Western, so it still counts, right?

@Ralizah LOL, you say you don't like Western games, and then exclude GTAV from the dislike, the most Western of all Western games I love most of the Western and Japanese games almost equally, and even I can't stand that one. Heck I'm liking what I'm seeing so far of Titanfall 2....although...it's kind of Gundam West. Does that count? I'll give you Tsushima if you give me Titanfall.

I think "cinematic" gets a bade rep. FFVII, VIII, IX, and X were all cinematic. Nobody does cinematic like Kojimas 300 hours of video. But they all get a pass. I was just saying in another thread I think we're past the "western games are Cinematic" cliche....that was SO 2014. Now they're bland storyless sandboxes you make your own fun in. I can deal with cinematic as long as there's some good gameplay to go with it. "Make my own fun, here's toys to play with (cough, GTAV) I won't do

@NEStalgia I think you're approaching the legal limit on how often you can use the emoticon.

There are things I don't like in GTA V, but I've always appreciated the humor in these games (aside from GTAIV, which was a depressing mess), and the attention to detail in the game is impressive. Keep in mind I sold it a while back, as I really just don't have time for it in my life right now (and I'm still low-key holding out hope for a Switch port).

FFVII and on were "cinematic" to some degree, but it didn't feel like I was playing a movie (well, okay, FFX did, but I'm not a huge fan of that one). A lot of Western games as of late feel very... restricted. Like they don't want the player going too far off script, so they randomly change how your character is moving (forced walking), or lock you into long conversations you're forced to listen to, and limit the degree to which you can interact with your environment. There's also a bit of a delay between pressing a button and having the character react, more like you're making suggestions to the character and less like you're directly controlling it. I'm not into it.

Also, most AAA Western sandboxes still have significant narrative elements. The closest thing to a "AAA storyless sandbox game you make your own fun in" I've seen in the last few years as of late is Breath of the Wild.

@Ralizah LOL, if you don't use the emoticon people get hostile, so I try to abuse it.

I see what you mean with forced walking somewhat. I did experience that in AC:O the other day and it annoyed me "why can't I just go forward?" But it's also a moment here or there in a huge open world, so I can forgive the odd narrative element after like 10 hours of doing whatever I wanted. FFVII kept you mostly on rails as well though. But I'm really not seeing too much of this "limited interaction, forced conversaions" (or at least moreso than traditional cutscenes.) and definitely not seeing this input delay (are you sure you're not streaming? ) You mostly described Naughty Dog games...except 2 of them were in your exclusions, so that's confusing. Except games where the weight of the weapon has a slow windup (of which MH is the king.)

Which games do you have in mind?

Sandboxes....I don't know. BotW was fairly guided on exploration. Skyrim, Fallout 4, (5 too?), GTAV, feel like empty "make your own fun" games to me. They just give you toys to play with but the "game" is minimal in there. I love Skyrim, but it was the first to do that. I don't want to make my own fun with toys....I want direction and focus!

8 years ago, Western games were just.....bad. But I'm seeing a lot of good stuff since year 2 of ps4/x1. I think the west refound itself in that time (it may be losing itself again now with the endless zombie apocalypses and connected online sandboxes. Fallout76 makes me a little nervous.

I misread this for a second. No, I would not get either of those if it was on the Switch. However, if Nintendo had a X-box Live or PS+, I would buy that.
I know Nintendo will have their own version, but I bring this up because it's nowhere near as rewarding as X-box or PS's, so I don't really consider it the same.

I've actually gone the other way with Switch, buying only physical games, with the exception of DLC for Zelda. Obviously the game companies are looking at Netflix and want to replicate their success. Actually streamed games don't work very well (there's always lag), so the closest thing is downloadable games were you have to keep paying your subscription, otherwise you won't be able to access them.

Physical games will probably stick around a while longer, but eventually everyone will probably log into "Netflix Games".

@Agriculture
That could be where games are going, but first, I would think they phase out physical games completely first. Which they are basically doing now, since you have to download the entire game off the disc for X-box and PlayStation now, making getting physical copies kinda pointless.
However, I do not like this route, which is another reason why I heavily enjoy Nintendo consoles and is the one golden praise I can give the Switch in this generation we are in. I mean if Nintendo wanted to do this "Netflix pass" stuff, I wouldn't mind, so long as we can still buy physical copies and NOT have to download them into the console. I value choices.

Tru dat. I think we'll see choices, at least for a while. Hopefully there won't ever be a time where all games are "services".

@bluemage1989 I skip the file sizes topic entirely, guess that could help a bit 😉

If 343 fixed Halo MCC and included it, I would get the Microsoft game pass hands down. Halo was always a make it or break it game for microsoft, and 343 blew it on the Xbox1....twice in a row. So, sadly I missed out on a game I've always loved and thus never bought the console. PS Now is a no go no matter what game it is. Streaming is nothing I am interested in.

I'd like to see Rare games on Switch, both as a subscription service or as retail releases: it would be a perfect match!

Moreover, since I definitely want a subscription service focused on the Nintendo legacy (at least N64, GCN and Wii first/second party games), I hope that Nintendo Online will not stick only on NES/SNES games for a long time.

I'd love to play Luigi's Mansion, Mario Sunshine and Galaxy or the original Mario Party on my Switch!

@hirokun just curious as to why you feel 343 blew it with halo twice. I get that mcc launched in a really bad state but it has gotten better from what I can tell. What exactly would you want fixed about the game that isn’t already being addressed by their most recent updates? As for the second game I can only assume you are referring to halo 5 campaign because the multiplayer is really good. I get the marketing was misleading but I don’t think the campaign is as bad as some say. If you were actually referring to halo 5 multiplayer what part did 343 blow?
