I saw that Dragon Quest III is on sale for the first time. I’ve been tempted by this game for awhile. I used to play a lot of old school turn based RPG (spent a summer playing Exodus Ultima III on the Commodore 64 (or maybe Vic 20) with a cassette tape drive (just to illustrate how old school I am).

I thought of buying it, then noticed Octopath Traveler I and II at their lowest ever price, and Triangle Strategy also at the lowest ever price. Which game would you recommend trying first?

Thanks!

@raymond23, all of them seem like fine games. Right now, I'm over halfway through the HD-2D Remake of Dragon Quest 3 and absolutely loving it, but some aspects of the game design do feel a little old school. However, there are some modern improvements like the modern graphics, multiple difficulty modes, etc., and you will apparently get a "special surprise" in the 1+2 Remake coming out this October if you play the 3 Remake, so there is also that to consider if you intend on playing 1+2. Never played any of the other games, but if I recall correctly, they all have overall good reviews, but I hear that Triangle Strategy is also a tactical game that focuses on strategic placement of your characters as well as attacking, just in case you're not into that kind of thing. From what I can tell, you really can't go wrong with any of them, though (obviously play Octopath Traveller 1 before 2 though, if you care about storyline)

My top 5 favorite games:
1: Pokémon Violet
2: Super Smash Bros. Ultimate
3: Pokémon Shield
4: Mario+Rabbids Sparks of Hope
5: Mario Kart 8 Deluxe
