Hello yet again, I'm a bit late this time but for the fourth time in a row I will be summarizing all the major releases for the Switch for this year (well last year since it's 2025 now) and rank this year in terms of game releases.
Then I will see how it compares to the other years.
Apologizes in advance if I miss some games just let me know in the replies and I can edit them in if you want.

With that aside let's see what 2024 had to offer in store for the switch in terms of releases:

December:

FAIRY TAIL 2

And with that, those were all the major releases I could find, though there were some I skipped out from posting here because of the lack of reviews and low scores, feel free to mention them if you wish.
This year had a noticably less first party games and some of the ones that were 1st party were remakes/ports like Luigi's Mansion 2 HD, Super Paper Mario And the Thousand Year Door.
Sadly this year was considerably weaker than last in my opinion.

Onto the ranking, this is how I would place them:

2017 > 2021 > 2023 > 2022 > 2024 > 2019 >2020 > 2018

Certainly not a strong year but not the worst either.
Tell me what do you all think of 2024 for the Switch? Was it better than you expected? Worse? What were the highlights for you in terms of releases? I'd would to hear your thoughts.

2024 was a year without a landmark first party release, but had a really good smattering of third party stuffs. If we're ranking years of the Switch's life, 2024 probably lands somewhere in the middle. 2021 might be the worst, 2017...certainly the best, imo. Most other years have at least one banger of a first party game.

Personal bias for the Xenoblade Chronicles series.

Switch Physical Collection - 1,519 games (as of November 1st, 2025)
Switch 2 Physical Collection - 2 games (as of June 9th, 2025)

@Magician Yeah it's crazy how this deep into the Switch's lifespan the first year still remains to be that good, after all these years it still remains to be in a bunch of people's personal best, mine included, though looking into it more that might change.

Good... good
Now play Dragon Quest
