I'm still not entirely sold on Arceus. I mean it's a bit of a risky move for a series that tends to play it safe a lot which is nice. But generally I haven't really liked the direction Pokemon has been going for a while now. Going to play a bit of wait and see I think. It could be great, my expectations aren't that high but
@SwitchForce
A lot of "industry expects" in the gaming media know little to nothing about tech. If you were more into tech it was a a lot more obvious something like the Switch was going to happen. And Nintendo was the most likely company to do it given they had pretty much abandoned the high end since the mid 2000s. The Switch existed before the Switch, what didn't exist was one of the big three (or a new player) putting serious money into software for it
This is the first year I had a Switch, but in terms of the range of games I have played, I would say 2021 has delivered the most consistent bangers from across Nintendo first party and indies. This is followed by probably 2017 and 2019 pretty equally in second place. I am not sure I have played a first party or indie game on the Switch released in either 2020 or 2018, or at least not one I enjoyed enough to remember.
Overall, like many others here have said, a 7/10, but teeing up for a 10/10 next year. I did very much like Miitopia and BDSP but I don't think I played anything else from this year (save for NSO stuff and the Great Ace Attorney which I won't be playing till next year anyway).
