When Sony released the PS1, Square jumped ship from Nintendo with what i would guess was a move to secure it's future. The least they could do is give Nintendo fans something they have been missing for generations, a proper Final Fantasy game. No Chocobo bull.
Whelp, it didn't happen. The "big news" of the livestream was just that a new patch for the game was coming soon. Oh, Square Enix...
But I still believe FFXII will come to Switch eventually. Just today SE reiterated their support for Switch with "mid-range" projects, and FFXII is the most obvious existing project for them to bring over. Either that, or the FFX/X-2 HD collection, but as others have mentioned in this thread, that seems to have been published by Sony so it's less likely. Yet again, Sony is also publishing Tiny Metal on Switch, so nothing's impossible!
Whatever happens, I just want a mainline Final Fantasy on Switch. That and Dark Souls are the two third-party franchises I want most on Switch.

I think an announcement of a main series FF game coming to Switch would probably be saved for a Direct, so Nintendo can go on about how this is the first main series FF game on a Nintendo system since VI.
@Angelic_Lapras_King Yeah, that was my first thought as well. Mainline FF returning to Nintendo would be a huge deal that would be best presented in a Nintendo direct. It was just the timing of Square' s Switch statement followed almost immediately by the announcement of the FFXII live stream that led me to speculate a Switch announcement.

@Anti-Matter Nothing interesting happened during the stream, but if you still wanna watch it anyway here's the link. Just note that it's all in Japanese.

@Anti-Matter As far as I can tell, the stream never mentioned the Switch, and there has since been no announcement or hints of FFXII on Switch.
Seems likely that it will come to Switch eventually, it just won't be too soon. Probably will be announced in a future Nintendo Direct.
