Surprised there's no thread for this game yet. Nominated for indie goty I believe. Reminds me of an iso zelda game. Nice puzzles and combat. A little on the hard side though.

The reason I was looking for a thread was to complain a tad lol. Love the game so far, about 1.5-2 hours in. But, it's a little of a grind fest that when you die, you don't Start at a close enough spot where you died. For instance, I'm at the witch's mansion, and when you die in, you don't start at the actual mansion. You start at the beginning of the entire area. It's only an extra 5 min to trek back to the start of the mansion, so it's not egregious, its just unnecessary imo.

Beautiful looking game though. Feel free to share Any thoughts on this game here.

I've played for nearly 3 hours so far and I really enjoy the game. It ticks so many boxes for me: bird as a playable character, Zelda-like puzzles, Souls-like combat / death mechanics, lovecraftian-esque themes and the music. I also really appreciate playing a lovingly handcrafted game again. It feels like so many of the more popular indie games nowadays go the roguelike route so it feels kind of refreshing. I'm also really pleased with the performance of DD since (at least in my experience) many indie games running in the unity engine usually don't perform that well on Switch.

I actually was also slightly annoyed by having to run back to the Witch's mansion after dying but you can unlock a door at the entrance of the mansion to skip that. I'm not sure if it unlocks from the start or if you are required to progress a bit through the mansion.

@MajinSoul yea I noticed that last night. I assumed that door needed a special key at the end of the mansion, but it turns out a regular key works. With that said, I finally upgraded my haste ( I believe it was) and strength. So I'll head down to the basement shortly.

The jury is out for me on Special Reserve Games. I have ordered two games from them in the past 5 months, neither have arrived, I haven't had any updates and when I have chased them I Have received vague updates/timescales which have not been met.

@MarioBrickLayer Most unfortunate, MBL. I'm sorry to hear of your issues with SRG.

I've ordered from them before. The Messenger and Hotline Miami Collection. Both arrived in mint condition.

It takes a long time from the time orders close to the time they ship. Just like LRG, it can be 6, even 9 months. Just sit tight and eventually they'll ship.

@Magician @JaxonH Thanks both, I might take a chance and order this too, I'll try and get another update on my existing orders before I do though.

Dang, I really like this game but the excessive amount of back tracking(when you die) really is becoming tedious. If not for that, this game would be nearly perfect as it ticks all the boxes for me. I've spent roughly 5-10 minutes getting back to the same area that I died multiple times in a row. I haven't found a key yet to perhaps make a fast travel spot unfortunately. For the life of me, I can't see why they implemented this feature. Why not let the person start at the beginning of each dungeon they died at?

I just saw the credits roll after 9 hours 25 minutes. Awesome game that I can definitely see myself replaying in the future. I don't have any major complaints really, it's a fantastic game. The difficulty was really nice aswell and most of my deaths came from me being too impatient. If I were to change one thing it would be to add a tool that lets you instantly go back to the last door used. I found myself using either the "quit game option" or dying pretty frequently in order to fast travel back to the hub area. Something like the homeward bone from Dark Souls would have been appreciated. Overall I don't think the backtracking was that bad though since you are constantly unlocking shortcuts via levers and doors.

I did encounter a few glitches though mainly falling through ladders and ending up being stuck under the ground which required me to reboot the game. It didn't happen often enough to affect my enjoyment but I still hope they patch it down the line.
