What do you all think of the joycons? Do you guys think the Dpad will be better than the pro controller?

I already pre-ordered a pair. Not sure what you are referring to about the d-pad on the Pro Controller

In case anyone didn't know, they are $50 and they do not work except in portable mode. You can not use them on a Joy-Con Grip

@Old_Man_Nintendo the dpad on the pro controller is pretty shoddy. When pushing left or right it usually will go up or down pretty frequently.

Mine doesn't but then again I take care of my electronics

@Old_Man_Nintendo I also indeed take care of my stuff, but it's a widespread issue. I'm glad you're not effected by it.

Widespread? Have they issued a recall or a free repairs? Just because 1000 very loud people complain doesn't make it widespread. Also, gasp, I've never had joycon drift either.

I think super competitive gamers are incredible rough to their equipment, I myself am not a super competitive person I just play games for fun. A lot of games, for fun lol

@Old_Man_Nintendo Well that is good for you. However, there's no secret that many people have had issues with their Dpads on the pro controller. I wouldn't say that I use the dpad for most things but I find it annoying playing dragon quest builders. I tried spawnwave's tape fix and I didn't find a whole lot of success with that.

However, the joycon drift thing is pretty annoying it happened to my wife's switch and we had to send it in. Link in Breath of the wild wouldn't stop walking forward, even after disconnecting the controller multiple times. Out of our 3 joycons that is the only one drifting so far.

I think it's great for Nintendo to stomach the cost of out of warranty repairs on the Joy-Cons but legally they didn't have to. User Error and wear and tear are both things they could have come back with but Nintendo is a great company who likes to protect their image.

@Old_Man_Nintendo Yeah, well the joycon drift has been something that has plagued many consoles. Plus they are very expensive. It wouldn't have blown up if it wasn't an issue. My wife's joycons were lightly used for maybe 2 months. We use the goplay grip case so we store them well. She might have played a total of 50 hours in Stardew valley and 10 in BOTW. There wasn't any reason for the joy con to drift on us.

@Old_Man_Nintendo And to be fair, I have gamecube controllers from over 16 years ago and they haven't had any issues. Also I am hard on those controllers due to smash. So to be honest this is the first console I've seen some issues with the controllers from Nintendo.

Mining in Stardew or general exploration and combat can be frustrating for some and if frustration levels build people can tend to be rough to how hard that knock around their thumbsticks. Again it's hard to tell exactly what happens to the Joy-Cons once the Switch is unboxed.

The real problem is when things like this start happening, in this day and age, it only takes a thousand very vocal individuals to start something to go viral. I can guarantee every YouTuber, News Anchor and Facebook Post didn't have Joy-cons drift on them. But it made enough noise to make Nintendo to change their policy.
