Okay, been bungling round the internet for the last hour or so and whilst I think I've got my answer, the fear of screwing up has made me decide to post this question. Also 90% of the links I checked were all regarding Power Banks / Blocks rather than Wall Adaptors.
Can anyone confirm that either an Apple iPad adaptor (5.2V/2.4A) or a Gotravel travel adaptor with USB-a sockets (5V/2.1A) can safely charge my Switch using the USB-A to USB-C cable that came with the Pro Comtroller, when its in sleep mode? Or for that matter any regular small device charger? Unfortunately I was never good with Electrical Theory, preferred Aerodynamics, Mechanics and Thermodynamics.
I know the optimum choice would be to take the Switch Power Adaptor that came with the console but I would like to avoid taking a dedicated charger whilst travelling.

It'll charge slower, but yes. Problem with using USB A chargers with A to C cables is not only do they charge slower than C to C, you have to be very careful to only use in spec A to C cables with 56k ohm resistors to prevent pulling more electricity than the cord/charger/device can handle, which can ultimately damage any or all of them.
Use Pro controller cable or, cross reference this Benson Leung approved list for A to C cables.
Personally, I use the Google USB C wall charger (small, fits in case, retractable prongs and full 3A current via USBC) with a Google in spec C to C cable. It's fantastic, can charge Switch from the wall, my portable battery from the wall, or Switch from the portable battery (just using the C to C cable).

@JaxonH Thanks for the info, ironically I only just discovered the topic you made about battery charging options this morning. That also helped. I'll probably delete this topic after today and bump that one up.
Although I'm sure both are fine as you said, I'll go with the Gotravel adaptor as it's 5V instead of 5.2V on the Apple Charger (although I think the Switch can handle from 5V to 15V though if I am reading its power adaptor correctly?).
Also thanks for that Google Doc, will keep it in mind if I need to get one; although the image of the Google Charger you also linked seems a lot bigger than you make it out to be in your description.
I may grab a 5V/3A charger with a USB-C to USB-C cable at some point but only when i get other devices that can use it.
I really need to wallow through the 30+ chargers I have accumulated.
@Jumpman The only one I could find covered Battery Packs instead of Wall Adaptors.
@bluedogrulez Was it the smaller 5V/1A model? If so then that will take a while due to low amps. But I could use that as I only intend to charge when busy or out and about.
