I mean we've already got Square Enix, Sony, and TakeTwo Interactive pushing really hard to normalize the $70 price point for their games. Do you honestly believe Nintendo haven't noticed this? So unless we get an announcement for Mario Kart 9 in the next few months (which I highly doubt), I think Nintendo are going to test the waters with BotW 2 at $70. I honestly think that it wouldn't stop fans of the first game from mashing the preorder button.

For botw 2 i will pay even 100$. That’s not the problem. But if they rise the price for their best AAA game, then they will want to rise the price for all the games that comes in the future, and that’s a big problem. So, no, i don’t agree with more than 60, like I didn’t agree for ff7 to be 70, even if it’s a great game. Trying to push prices for best games, just for lazy developers (haha) to join the train with their unfinished products, it’s not cool.
@Eel Fair enough, it's your playground, I only reside here. Just the same, it's not uncommon for retailers to delist games, refund customers, and then relist the product at the correct price point.

Most Nintendo published games release at $79.95 RRP here in Australia but there are a small few that have released at $89.95 instead and the first Breath of the Wild is one of them. As long as they don't go above that I'm not too fussed. It's worth the extra $10.
Although I'll always be at least somewhat annoyed at such price increases (Ratchet and Clank: Rift Apart was one of my favourite games of the year, yet I still question whether £70 was a fair price for it), they're probably inevitable and I think BotW would be a fair game to list at £70**.
My bigger concern would be Nintendo's pricing strategy moving forward. I'd like to see them use more of a tiered system. Sure, a new Zelda or Xenoblade might be justifiable at £70...but what about a Mario Sports title, or a remaster of an older game?
The trouble here (relative to other companies) is that Nintendo games barely drop in price with time. But I guess that's because people are just willing to pay more for them. If none of these games drop below £70...I guess they're worth £70.
** Using £70 interchangeably with $70. It's not a direct conversion but that's what we've unfortunately ended up with here in the UK! T_T

So are we just making threads of things that are obviously not gonna happen?
Like there's a logic of sorts (an inherently flawed one, but it does exist) to why those games have been 70 dollars. This is just another BOTW on Switch, like the 60 dollar BOTW.
Most if not all games on all platforms if you add the DLC and MicroTrans purchase would more then exceed a $70 BOTW2 purchase. So how people can be so delusional just for the release price they should take a review of their DLC/MicroTransaction and see what they really spend on a game not just on Switch Platform.
