I’m fine with it, we’ve got a lot of good games that I’ll remember for a long time MM2, Paper Mario, Luigi’s mansion, the two Zelda games, and a lot of Wii U remakes for the ones who didn’t own a Wii U. (So they’re basically new games lol)
I think if you took the first year’s software alone, the Switch would have been worth it. That’s Breath of the Wild, Mario Odyssey, Xenoblade 2, Splatoon 2, Mario Kart 8D, Mario vs Rabbids, ARMS...
Hard to top all that, really, but the indies and third-party stuff since that first year have only made the Switch better. I’ve been whittling down my backlog this year and tried not to buy anything - but my wish list is still dozens of games deep, and keeps growing.
Mostly. I kind of miss the huge library of exclusive games their dedicated handhelds enjoyed in the past, and it sucks having almost no VC support or BC, but it's also cool having fully portable versions of home console games. I'd probably not be fully satisfied having it as my one and only device to play games on, but it beats the pants off of most of Nintendo's other home consoles library-wise.
The title says all: are you satisfied with what Nintendo Switch has offered so far?
The library is fine. Lack of Virtual Console, deeply disappointing. Still no Mario 3D World? Still no Mario Galaxy. Granted Galaxy & 3d World are coming, better late than never.
Partial games on game cards is deeply disappointing, too. I can't help wonder if game card production costs are coming down as quickly as Nintendo had planned.
The only thing I'm missing is some Turn Based Strategy Games like Total War, Heroes of Might and Magic, King's Bounty and such. We have Civ and Thea, which are good, and King's Bounty 2 would hopefully scratch that itch.
For the most part, yeah. There's minor things I could disagree with, or look at things in hindsight. But my only major issue with the Switch's library thus far would probably be "the video game industry gave up much of its creativity and quantity of games to chase after graphics and questionable monetization that now has to be made up for by very tiny indie devs who do not often have the same resources, thus making mid-tier games that would be perfect for Switch games (exclusive or otherwise) distressingly rare".
I have to say that I have and love the Wii U. I'm disappointed with the lack of retro games/Virtual Console on Switch and also with the ports. Nintendo release full-priced and quick Wii U ports with no cross-buy option because Wii U games still look good and no work is required for easy cash grab but they don't bother with remakes and remasters of older games and that's disappointing.
As a system in addition to other systems, definitely. If Switch was my only system though, not really.
Like with the Wii U, Nintendo hasn't really solved the game droughts problem so having 2 current systems really helps to fill in gaps that each system has.
Also Switch still has some massive genre gaps because the 3rd parties that are known for those types of games won't support Switch and Nintendo doesn't really make games for those genres anymore or at all.
Finally, I'm starting to grow impatient about the Switch release gap for example I have considered many times picking up DOOM Eternal on XB1 instead of Switch because it went from "same day release" to "all versions delayed but Switch is delayed further" to "radio silence about the Switch version months after the other versions released". It's Dark Souls Remastered all over again.
I honestly don't see anything wrong with Switch's games...
Nor do we, @BlackKnight93. What are we supposed to do? All caps? 10 exclamation marks at the end? We like Nintendo’s roster, so do you. This actually is excellent like your previous threads, no that I see this post. You still think we don’t love Nintendo enough. We do. Okay? I’m supporting you here, but look at our comments, read them, and take in what they mean. Please.
Heigh Ho Heigh Ho. It’s off to work (from home) I go.
