@meppi64 Yeah I didn't think much of Joint Strike either, picked up Bangai o in a used game store for £10 and loved it, played it on 3ds as I never had a ds, bought a lot of ds games though once I owned 3ds, psp was my favourite console b4 that, always swithed between PlayStation and Nintendo over the years, Nintendo own me for the foreseeable future though!

PSP is a great machine for shmups also, I have 2 Vita's, one for my Japanese psn account with a great collection of shmups and arcade games for PS1 and PSP..

@meppi64 That's a great collection of Switch games you have! What are your Japanese imports? Mine are I am Setsuna, Pri Para Idol, Cave Story +, SD Gundam G Generation (with the SNES game download code!), and Neo Atlus...

To be honest with you, other than Nintendo, I don't like where modern gaming is going.. For example, I got an email from Rockstar saying Red Dead Redemption 2 is available to pre order, a game I may have been tempted to buy as I'm a fan of the Grand Theft Auto games and others... I clicked the link and looked through the various editions, the Ultimate Edition which is a little off £100 contains only a couple of physical items, a steel book and a map, the rest is a long list of dlc outfits, weapons and missions😕

I'm not going to buy into this, I won't pay huge money when I'm not actually going to own anything, I may buy the standard edition if the game is amazing, but more than likely will pass on principle.

Yep, looks similar to one of my Vitas that I use for my Japanese PSN account.

Money Idol Exchanger, Umihara Kawase Shun, Xevious 3D/G+, Strikers 1945 II, Loop * Salad, Chippoke Ralph no Daibouken, Super Pang Collection, Ore no Ryouri, Dodonpachi, Donpachi, Rakugaki Showtime, Puzzle Bobble 2 (for the 2 player Time Attack mode only found in this version of the game and nowhere else sadly), Gaia Seed, Zanac X Zanac, Gunhound Ex (PSP), G-Darius and Harmful Park.

If you like a good puzzler, you need to have Money Idol Exhanger and Loop * Salad!
And if you like really good action platforms, you absolutely need Chippoke Ralph and Umihara as well. All these are essential IMO. Harmful Park is wonderful as well, just put it on hard as it's a little on the easy side.

And if you still have a PS3, pick up Ore no Ryouri, it's one of the best PSone games ever released.
Tons of fun on your own, but if you can play it with a friend, then it's even better.
You can play it on Vita as well, but it needs 2 good sticks, and Vita sticks are a little, well...
It's fully playable though. But precision might be a bit compromised like everything that relies on those sticks.

My Switch imports are Musou Orochi 2 Ultimate since it won't release over here.

I go back and forth between todays games industry.
For the past year, I've been so damn tired of all the BS they pull, so I played nothing but Switch and DS for the most part. Got really disillusioned with Sony (again), which is now the 3rd time. First with the PS2 launch and their arrogance. Didn't help that it cemented the death of the Dreamcast.
Then halfway through the PS3 lifespan, again thanks to their arrogance and crap they pulled. Not to mention killing some of the best devs in the industry: Psygnosis/Studio Liverpool due to some pencil pusher that was sleeping around with her boss and wanted to work her way up at Sony by cutting expenses for no reason, so bye bye Studio Liverpool people. :-/
But since Microsoft under Don Mattrick ended up being even worse when they were about to launch the Xbox One, I jumped off of that ship as well, back to Sony.
Only for them to become massively popular again and start doing what they do best, run their mouth (who wants to play old s*** anyway - Jim Ryan) and closing down some of the best studios: Evolution and Guerrilla Cambridge. But then also cutting off the Vita at their knees and jumping on their new money making scam fad instead: Virtual Reality.
So I have no faith in them whatsoever at this point anymore, which is why I sold all my 3rd party PS4/3 games and went back to Xbox for those.
If they screw up again like before, I'm sticking with Nintendo and nothing more. I'm tired of being jerked around by the other two...
So yeah, probably not a big fan of todays industry either. lol
Really happy with my Xbox so far though, although it badly needs more Japanese games.
If Red Dead Redemption 2 has a fantastic single played campaign without any loot box crap and such, I'll pick it up, otherwise, I'll but it second hand down the line for 10€, or perhaps ignore it completely.

Another day another SHMUP announced for Switch and it just happens to be an HD remaster of a game I absolutely loved as a kid. Cloud Master renamed to Monkey King: Master of the Clouds

@Lroy Cheers. To get them all lined up I opened and closed them one by one. Then just used a photo editor and image layer to remove the other icons. Took a while

@meppi64 Yep I couldn't be happier with how it's turned out. One of my main wishes was to see VC Arcade make a comeback along with Saturn and Dreamcast classics. What we've got is something far better than a new VC Arcade would ever have been and with Sega Ages on the way,we may even get those Saturn and DC games.

@Daftbomb Cheers. I haven't played too much of it. My first impressions were not so great. It looks amazing and the music is great but I felt helpless in avoiding hits,some stuff just seemed impossible to avoid. After a few goes though ,it started to click with me and I went on a pretty decent run and enjoyed it. It's really fast paced and some super quick reactions are needed. It takes some getting used to and I think so need to play it more before fully recommending it.

@hybridseed Cheers. I have around half of the Neo Geo releases. I only have 2 fighters there ,Garou and KoF98. I think there's only around a handful or 2 of non-fighting games missing from my collection ,Street Hoop and Magical Drop 3 come to mind. I'm missing a few of the Arcade Archives releases ,off the top of my head ,Crazy Climber ,Traverse USA ,Mario Bros ,Ninja Kid,10 Yard Fight and Ikki. Not going to bother with any of those. Same goes for the Neo Geo titles I don't have. I was planning on picking up Samurai Shodown 2 and Last Blade but now I have the Street Fighter Collection I've got all the 1v1 fighters I need.

Oh, I got this on Master System and PC-Engine!
This probably means we'll get Steel Empire one day as well.
That one had gorgeous Mega Drive artwork, at least in Japan.

Nice collections! I personally try to avoid the collectors bug as much as possible (the collector "trait" is in me, but I try to keep it in check). I already buy too many games compare to how many I have time to play!

Played this on the Master System back in the day. Loved it!

@meppi64 Great collection you have from the Japanese PSN, think I have most of the games you listed, but that hardware breakdown worry we have is even more of a worry with Vita as they're not making them for the West any more😕

And yeah, the sticks are terrible! I know what you mean about Sony.. There was also the import company they shut down a decade or more ago for selling PSP's from Japan worldwide, Lik Sang I think they were called? Used to love shopping from them but Sony took them to court and they obviously didn't stand a chance..

@hybridseed Yep, happily play SF 30TH ANNIVERSARY with you. I'm still struggling with the controls and still not comfortable with any of the controllers I have for this game but be good fun to play with you. Just lookout for me online and post over in the Adult Switch Gamers thread or the thread for this SF collection.

Same goes for @Zkibu who also recently picked up the game.

@meppi64 @Lroy Cloud Master along with the Master System port of R-Type are the 2 games that got me into shoot 'em ups. If not for those then I doubt Hellfire would have been one of my first purchases for the Megadrive,the game that made me love the genre even more.Funny to think,if none of those 3 games existed there is every chance I wouldn't own so many shmups on Switch, if any.This exact thread wouldn't exist either

@OorWullie Yeah, I'd like to get more of the ACA titles, some of the KOF series and other fighting games, platformers and of course the shmups! Like I've said in this group before.. I'd buy them all!

I'm hoping to hear the words Dreamcast and Switch in the same sentence at some point during E3!

@OorWullie R-TYPE on Master System is probably one of the single most influential games of my entire life. Still enjoy playing that incredible port (for the time and system) now.

@hybridseed It just says ' Coming this summer'. Hopefully that means June rather than August.

@Lroy Been using the pro controller for Ultra Street Fighter II: The Final Challengers and do ok with that... Is it not that good for Anniversary Collection?

@hybridseed I'm leaning more towards using the Pro Controller over my Arcade Stick for this SF Collection which just seems insane to me but in truth neither control method feels 'right' to me thus far.

@Lroy @hybridseed I am actually using the WiiU pro controller (w/NS magic adapter). The D-pad is too "mushy" to my preference in Switch's own pro controller. I have also the Hori Rap but with the cord and noise it is making it is just more convenient to use pad.
