I felt compelled to make a thread for this game after an amazing first couple of hours of playing. This game has a gameplay loop that reminds me of Retro Game Challenge for the DS. The story of Arcade Paradise is that your father has tasked you with managing his laundromat. Unbeknownst to your father, you decide to diversify your business by gradually building an arcade in the back of the laundromat.

If you're a child of the late 70's to early 80's, and some of your fondest memories as a child revolve around going to the arcade and dreaming what it would be like to own and operate your own arcade, this is the game for you.

The gameplay loop asks that you manage the laundromat up front while playing the games in the back. As you reach achievement goals with the games in the back, eventually they'll begin to generate more income than the laundromat. You earn money to expand the arcade. But early on this is all done while you're on-the-clock managing loads from the washer, to the dryer, back to the customer up in the front.

If you're standing still at any point in Arcade Paradise...you're playing the game wrong. You should be constantly in motion between the laundromat in front and the arcade in the back.

As I mentioned earlier, if you enjoyed Retro Game Challenge for the DS, I highly encourage you to give Arcade Paradise a go. Personally, once I get enough gold coins piled up, I think I'll spring for the DLC.

I feel as though I'm coming up to the end of the "story" portion of Arcade Paradise. Perhaps the only disappointing part of the whole experience was the...what I suppose...the halfway point, which is the acquisition of the Knuckles & Knees cabinet. Belt-action beat'em ups are my jam. Unfortunately, this one cabinet out of the roughly thirty-or-so games you can play, is not good.

But it's one blemish on what has otherwise been a great experience.

At a little over twenty hours I've rolled the credits. The last few days in-game were spent standing around waiting for the money to roll in because I had accomplished most of the cabinet goals and most of the upgrades. The last message from your father, as he admits he's a real jerkface, was poignant. And to see this game was a tribute to a lost family member of the development team, made the experience that much more touching, bittersweet.

8/10 - An amazing experience to kickoff to the year.

@Magician Thanks so much! Glad you enjoyed it. I'm the game director on it. I'd not seen the Jeff Gerstmann game of the year thing so I'm buzzing now.

Been thinking of this game for awhile and to my delight I saw that it was added to Gamepass. I am currently downloading it now and will give it a shot.
